Redoran under a New Control!
In the Vivec arena, there was no petty duel taking place. There was a battle for the new head of House Redoran. The former leader of the Redoran [%leader] was challenged for control by quickly advancing [%player]. The winner of this match was [%player], giving him control over House Redoran. With a new leader it is always a guess in which way the house will turn. We can only wait and see how [%player] will treat his new position.

What a wondrous love it is
To bind two souls in faith,
Chained completely together
With never a false word,
Weal and woe, wish and real,
Woven each together
From first kiss to last breath,
First and last whispered in love.

Strange Creatures Lay Siege to Mournhold's Brindisi Dorom!
On Morndas afternoon, an assortment of terrifying animals appeared in Mournhold's Brindisi Dorom quarter and began to attack several of the Kings Royal Guardsmen. Three Guardsmen and four High Ordinators of the Dunmeri temple were involved in the incident, and though the beasts were destroyed in short order with no human casualties, many citizens of Mournhold are still frightened. One man, who wishes his name to be kept anonymous, told the Events he was considering on departing from the city altogether. "It's terrible!" he explained in an interview which took place on the night of the attack. "Nothing this grim has happened in all my years of living in Mournhold. I am afraid for the safety of my family. Will Almalexia do nothing?" The answer to such a question has yet to be revealed.

If anyone has any ideas for a good title of the paper post it here, so far there are 2, "The Vvardenfell Events Weekly" and "The Imperial Connection". If you have ideas or like any plz post. We also need ideas for sections or short poems (although I don't want this to turn into a poem thread. And if you are ever bored, advertisements are always fun.

Could Almalexia be Dead?
Strange rumors are starting to spread from the capital; they say the God Almalexia is dead. Apparently these rumors have evidence, none of her hands or helpers have spotted her anywhere in the city. The last they heard is she was headed to the Clockwork City to see her old friend Sotha Sil; who has also remained hidden. Rumors have that the famous [player name] was also there with Almalexia. These Rumors have yet to be confirmed but evidence is there, the believers remain hopeful but you cannot deny the fading of the Tribunal.

Argonia:
An evening of sorrow,
of pity and of pain.
I wonder shall I ever,
See my birthplace once again.
Within these walls I weep,
Argonia! I cry,
The question, oh my fatherland,
Shall I see thee ere I die?
Congratulations Tul! A very inspiring poem.
I added a bit more. I was going to do a letter to the editor, but I didn't know if that would make it too long...

Nice though they are, I don't think that the style of a modern newspaper really fits a medieval atmosphere. Having real newspapers would also neccessitate making locations for the writing etc of the paper. Short pamphlets would be more suitable, in my humble opinion.

I agree. It's a bit too "out there" (though there are giant walking bug-transports and magic forks in the game... so who am I to talk?)for the setting. I agree there needs to be public flyers dispersed throughout some of the more populous cities, but not ones with "Almelexia Marries Stevie Wonder: Batboy Takes Life From Grief" headlines or subject matter. They should be intrenched firmly in the lore and kept "realistic"... such as announcements of new laws, and important things that WILL be happening- things which have already happened would be written down by scribes into the history books, not pamphlets. Your average muck-raker would get their news by rumor and gossip, not printed works.
(And on the note of poem contests in newspapers... no, no. Just... no. )

Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!
I suppose that fliers and such aren't too unreal for Morrowind, but they would certainly only be in the large cities and they would come some time after the actual event. Setting the program such that they would appear and disappear at the right times would be the trick to make this work.
Also, the Almalexia dead would be no good, as no one you talk to actually believes you when you say that. Something about her long absence from the public arena a few months after her death might be good, but nothing so brazen as to actually say that she's dead.

Hey, you read the Weekly World News too? I had assumed I was was the only one. How about that time when Batboy robbed the Armored Truck and got away in the mini cooper? Then, two months later, he's hunting Osama Binladen for the FBI...Psyborg wrote:"Batboy Takes Life From Grief"

Anyway, I was just building off of the stuff Zabuza came up with. We could always make it in ye olde english...

I always assumed it would be in large cities only. The point of Almexia is I invisioned it as impirial printed and I am sure they would be excited at a chance to spread world of a dead tribunal (or 2). It seems like the general concensis is that this should go in the direction of flier instead of newspaper. *shifts gears*
"Live for the glory of the empire"
The Empire does not want people to know that two members of the Tribunal are dead. Think about it: the Empire has a relatively shaky hold on Morrowind that partially depends on the blessings of the Tribunal. It is already stricken with internal strife (an heir is nowhere to be found), and news that a Dunmeri God is dead would only create distress and upheavel in Morrowind. Furthermore, people simply DON'T believe that Almalexia is dead. They can't. It's like telling someone who's religious that God is dead -- they won't believe you.
Only the prospect of death makes life worth living.

Ehem... Where was I? Oh, yes, well I think we might as well just abandon this, or just limit the pamphlets to one big main story and nothing more. I really liked the idea of the newspaper though, something fun instead of serious for once. I mean, look at Daggerfall, you got mail from a post-zombie...
