Quest ideas concerning provinces

Post by nietzsche »

I know this thread is perhaps a bit too early. But I was advised that I should start my own thread about this. You may lock this topic, ignore it or do whatever you please. I don't care coz I know that is what you do anyway. That is, do whatever you please (this just a statement, don't take it as a flame)

I myself have certain ideas about the provinces. Here are they (perhaps to be moved to Oblivion CS)

Summerset Isles: The Island of the mysterious and arrogant High Elves. Perhaps PC should be involved in quests similar to the Mages Guild Disappearance of the Dwemer questline

High Rock: A bit though one. It is a land of (human) wizardry. So perhaps something like this: The current archwizard of the High Rock dies and a competition is held to all those willing to become next archwizard. Okay, this is probably bad one as it sounds too much Harry Potter and triwizard tournament. Besides I bet it goes against the lore.

Hammerfell: I don't know about these either. According to official elder scrolls despriction however perhaps somekind bounty hunter questline would be in order?

Skyrim: Maybe a good bar fight as a specific quest idea? (lol) Or perhaps where player should unite some nordic clans, kill a beast or wipe out rival clan?

Cyrodiil : No reason to think about this

Morrowind: Just one question arises. Now that at least most of the tribunal semi-gods are dead what will happen in Morrowind?

Valenwood: The mysterious Valenwood...home of the hippies, Fargoth and Gaenor...er woodelves. The forest could play tricks on you making you insane...or perhaps not. Maybe some unknown force would try to destroy the woods and PC should save the woods in order to prevent some catastrophic end of the world thing

Elsweyr: Smuggling!!!

Black Marsh: I cannot come up anything intelligent corcerning this province. What could possible be happening in the swamps? Perhaps some anti-slavery related quests in the Twin Lamps style?

Orcs: I can't come up with anything useful concerning orcs. I mean they are the traditional bad guys

Only the traditional bad guys following the legacy of LoTR. They're not the traditional bad guys in the Elder Scrolls series. The Elderscrolls series often flies in the face of conventional fantasy.

ah - so this is where i should've taken it. i was wondering if anyone had considered a House Dres slave raid as a quest or quest line, using the 'follow' script to knock out or paralyze some natives, get them in slave bracers and have them traipse along back to a boat.

This is not where you should have taken it. Try Quest Design.

Well, Morden could have moved it if he wanted, someone who has the ability will if they think it should be.

I liked the idea for a Dres Slave Raid, but I don't think it couild be pulled off very well, not in the TESIII CS anyways, it would have to be smaller and probably just the Player. Now in TESIV CS it might be possible, to have a large group of people, a few mounted creatures, and some carring cages and the likes. I imagined a Slave Raid to be basiclly a great expidition, they could take upwards to a month or two to complete. They would likely have to go far into the Black Marsh, I don't think any of the easier Argonians are going to be very near the border.

the quest forum said that quests are on hold. i figured i'd be better off taking it to a general discussion forum. *holds up Flameshield of Newbieness*

hmm...now that you mention it, oblivion's engine could do interesting things to the slave raids, like having to track people's schedules in a village in order to manuever them away from guards and whatnot. plus the geology system would make the swamps and jungles that much more interesting to navigate...interesting, to say the least. imagine going off with a caravan and finding the jungle's changed by the time you're returning home, cutting off your routes and forcing you into an ambush or whatever...hm.
