hi everyone
for the past couple days i was looking around throught all the awesome concept art everyone has made, hoping to get some inspiration and realized there wasn't much heavy armor made for hammerfell so i thought i'd make a "knight of the scarab" heavy armor for the more brutile of players...

I'd be intersted to see how it looks when worn. It has an interesting style, but it dosent seem hamerfelly to me, but maybe if combined with the right clothing it might have the look.

argh! beat me to it: i was just working on a concept for the knights of the Scarab (along with the orders of the Wheel, Hawk and Candle). the knights of the Scarab are stationed in Totambu, from whence they send their young men to the Dwemer ruins of Stros m'Kai for tests of manhood. try working Dwemer armor into simpler auxiliary materials for the best fit, i'd say. it's my idea, at least.

i tryed to give it a bit of dwemer feel.... like the circle in the center of the cuirass is from the dwemer shield... and of course the armor itself would be an orange/sandy colour

I would clasify this as medium rather than heavy but we don't have medium armor anymore so meh. How about some greaves and boots ?

Love the concept! Well rendered too.

Do each of these types of guards have some sort of insignia like the guards in Oblivion? You could always invent one and incorperate it into the design.

Well, its a start, although we really need a Yokudan font if we're to use letters. I have just noticed you have a small scarab symbol on the belt, which along the lines of what I was thinking.

Here, to show what I meant originally, these two pictures give a good example of insignia/emblems in Oblivion:

Perhaps you could design some sort of Scarab symbol (perhaps where you put the Daedric S) to be printed on all the knight of the scarab's armour, although maybe not as big as in the Oblivion concepts.

I found 3 versions of scarab symbols to inspire you:

Just an idea, it's up to you whether to implement it or not :).

my Scarab Knight concepts are up in my art topic, if you're interested.

i like your Scarab...much more egyptian than mine. i'm really a minimalist with these things, so extravagance is always nice to see. plus, yours should be easier to work into a weapon theme.

Beutiful Jack! Thanks for taking my idea into account :). I cant wait to see some more of your Hammerfell concepts.

Old ye Bard, when I was searching for Scarab pictures, almost all those with wings portrayed the Scarabs with huge wings. Some were bigger than the beetle itself (like in the 3rd example), some even had feathers like the wings of an eagle.

Its a common myth that the Egyptians believed the scarabs so important because they believed a giant scarab rolls the earth around the sun (or vice versa), just like a real Scarab rolls its food/nesting material (usually animal faeces) into its home. Making the scarab look grandiose is unsurprising if something is that important to them.

I suppose it was quite clever to place the Scarab above the sphere, since it looks like most symbols of the scarab where it controls the sun or earth.
