The ruins are modeled after ancient Egyptian temples and monuments. I always depicted Hammerfell as being arid, so the architecture and weapons are designed after Egyptian and Arabian architecture and weapons. Please post your opinions, it is appreciated.

The images are waaaaaaay too big.
EDIT: Ok, there we go. Looking good, but I question the practicality of that last sword. The PC cant really make trip attacks ingame so I think that sword would come across as useless.

The curved blades are a bit too curved. Cant see how you could use those as effective offensive weapons. The first dagger looks like somthing you might use on a farm. I guess it could be a weapon for hand-to-hand combat if you held it a certain way.
The last dagger I have no idea how you would go about killing with it.
The staff, sword and the others are good though.

Ok these are a little bit less outlandish, and a little better designed too.

I love the Katar. It would be nice if someone can pull it off ingame.

Well yes. These are nic concepts. However. when Arth said it would be nic for someone to pull one off in game, hadn't meant it's possible to do a Katar. And these really aren't atmospheric. But it might be worth looking round Katars, to see whether they could be implimented.

I'm sure they'll find a way...

I'm sure they won't. It simply isn't possible.

...without looking pants. I mean sure you could model it to fit like the short blade style but the moves would look all wrong. You would be hitting with the side the whole time.

How so? Seriously, if it can't be done I'll try something else.

You simply cant put new animations in. Think....that weapon would have to be held in the same way that other weapons are held, and lets say...short blade. All of the short blade moves are animated as if you are hitting with a blade that is above your hand, so if you are using one which is in fact in front of your hand, it would 'hit' without making contact, and you would be hitting with the side of the weapon.

I see. You would have to come up with a whole new animation for it. So Oblivion is just gonna be like, regular sword/dagger, maces, warhammers, axes, and bows. With variations of each i.e. scimitar, sabre, katana.
Ok, thanks Jale. Is it too late to post new architecture styles, or have you already decided how things are gonna look?

Cant really do any harm, can it?
There are some things where you can be creative with the system. Just think about the Daedric crescent in Morrowind...wierd shape, to the point that is almost looked like it was using new animations, when really it was just the 2h Sword.
