Books of Tamriel Application
I'm currently working on a web based application. This web application will be able to store books (and other forms of TES lore) into a database. Then I will try and make a wide range of search functions that will allow people to make specific searches in the database.
Hopefully this will be usefull to the writers/lore people here at TR and possibly other projects. I'm planning to start by adding TR books, but I will eventually move on to adding books and lore found in the TES games itself.
This application will be built in php and will work with a MySQL database (but will be usuable with other database types). It will have a simple interface, I might make it look nice if I feel like it. But for now main priority is to get this to work properly.
For now it just has 3 functions, and isn't really usefull at all, but it works. It can print (with printing I mean show in your browser) all books in the database, add a book to the database and search by title.
Screenshots are here (it looks really crappy)

I'm not giving people access to the working demo version yet as it will just eat up my bandwith. As soon as a decent version comes out I will post it here.
Anyway, I hope that in the future at least some people will use this. Whatever the case it will be a learning experience for me (first time I use php).

I don't want to sound like an ass or anything, but will this program differ at all from The Imperial Library? Or is it supposed to contain only TR's books and not already in-game books? Just wondering.

it seems to be a program for efficiently sorting and finding books from both the game and TR. til's search feature is rather hard to deal with at times (and dosent alow the type of customazation that amrods apears to have).

It will have more search options and contain TR books in addition to books found in game. In fact i'll start by adding TR books. So it will be different from TIL.DiegoDraw wrote:I don't want to sound like an ass or anything, but will this program differ at all from The Imperial Library? P.S. I'm also open for requests for future features of the program, if you have any suggestion feel free to post them or even PM them to me.

Great work, Amrod.
I actually had an idea for an App myself, one that would transform psuedocode into MWScript. Then I realized it was a lot of work adding all that junk in, and left it as a pipedream (I work in BASIC).

It's not so much working with computers as it is tricking them into doing what you want them to do.

I was going through the lit forum for a bit and noticed this stickied post. I never actually continued working on this. Now that I'm webmaster I have ideas of having sort of a BoT browser (on the forums) that has the kind of functions described above. It's low priority, there is a lot of stuff to be done and L&W doesn't seem to be in desperate need of this, but the idea of making it is still there.
That'd be really nice of you. We don't need it, per se - but we could use one.

I'll see what I can do.

Thats a good idea if I can fit something like that into the claims browser, but I'm a looooong way from even starting on it, maybe not even this year. It really depends on the time I have.Lady Nerevar wrote:even if not in app form, we need some kind of list with all teh books so we can gidure out what is appropriate for which ints without reading em
