saithan's showcase

Post by saithan »

I was told it'd be a good idea to start a showcase.so here it is.

I thought I'd start with hammerfell simply cuz there is so much information on this site (concepts and ideas). so I thought I collect those ideas as well as chatting with members on IRC.

here is metropoliton hammerfell at dusk.

I tried to stick with the concept notes. all the buildings are sand stone and covered stone. save for the temple with bares imperial influences.

here is another hammerfellish. a translation of another image in an older wsg.

and one on dunmer rituals

anyways I hope you all like it.

May I scream promotion? You work very fast, and it looks beautiful. (Oh and Saithan, you may also include the other two you've posted as well if you like. Thats what a showcase is after all, a big compendium of your work.)

I concur. Very impressive. By the way, what program do you use? I'm just starting to learn Blender. Anyway, very, very kewl.

I use blender3d to modify some pre made modles or to make base meshes. uv mapper to make the texture maps. I start on paper to get an idea of everthing i need then after getting and modifing what i can in blender in export as obj.

then make any texture maps I may need.
for scene setup i use vue 5 infinate. I import all my meshes unwelded then use boolens to mod them more.

hammerfell has a morocan feel vue came with a few objects that already had that look so I was able to take like 2 objects and put them together to make a 3rd that looks like what i needed.
the temple is contructed from peices of castle constructor where i used bools to make them look a bit different then in vue i swapped a few textures. it is cheating but hey it looks good.

for post work i use gimp with a wacom intuos3 tablet. and some common methods used in photography lighting corrections and image softening. along with accenting a few lines here and there.

I'd probly be best suited for texture art.

game modeling is another animal from what I'm doing in vue.
games are much more limited in the poly count than fantasy art rendering.

redguard huntress.

Jolda (The Huntress) born of Cyrodiil always daydreamed and wondered of the beauty of the land Hammerfell. All she knew was the many stories told to by her father on rainy nights.

And now, to finally gaze upon the land of her heritage besets her heart with a bitter sweet joy. Knowing that she now must make her own life and find her path in Tamriel alone.

For it was only three months ago, that this very moment was but a dream. When a band of Orc mauraders raided her fathers farm.

her father was killed before her very eyes while trying to protect her. As her fathers body lay limp at her feet, drawing a line between her and the enemy. Jolda reached down for her fathers axe.
she grasped it in a manor to pretend that she knew how to use it. But the Orc stood there and laughed.

As he did so his weapon slowly came down to point to the hard wood floor of her fathers cottage. that is when she in a moment of panic lunged the axe blindly towards her enemy.

When the panic subsided she seen the orc lying next to her father whith her hand still tightly holding the axe as it rested deep inside the orcs skull.

the rest of raiding party witnessed the death of their leader at the hands of the young woman. Gestured that she had earned the respect of band. They continued the loot the farm leaving her unharmed to bury what was left of her known world.

the end

I know my spelling is bad and my grammer worse. but I hope you enjoy the image along with short story.

I also want to thank those of you who posted the encouraging posts, that really motivates me to make more art.

Be certain to look around at the forums you now have access to, feel free to continue to post any of your work here, and be certain to participate in the WSG's... you know, if you feel like it. Which would be great if you did.

cult of the dreamer. I didn't want to post this on the hammerfell necromancy wsg cuz i didn't think it was specific enough.

six years after the fall of Dagoth ur at the hand of the Nerevarine. many of the "dreamers" were released fromtheir madness. Others that felt that Dagoth Ur was the true source for mystic power were forced or compelled to flee morrowind.

over time some dreamers followed trade routes leading to hammerfell. while finding refuge in the Nohotogrha oasis some realized that the power of Dagoth ur has been decimated but not altogether destroyed (note Vivec's speach after defeating Dagoth Ur).

This lingering essences is beleived by some to be only in need of faith of it followers and the feeding of blood and flesh rituals to bring back that imortal essence of Dagoth ur.

Jesus christ dude, that is a beast. You need to make your own concept art thread, in the CA forums, like ever other concept artist :D

Get on it now, that is ****ing impressive.
