My showcase

Post by horodnicdragos »

Some people know me some other do not so I'd like to forget the past and focus on future. In this while I've improved my skills by working on other oblivion communities and some webdesign.

Allright so here I have some screenshoots. I'd like to begin with older stuff and end with my lastest models:

-These are some flower I did for silgrad. They are pretty old it's been one year or so. (Please don't mind the copyright signature. I offer all my models to TR while they are OB quality.)

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d51/horodnicdragos/ghiocel.jpg

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d51/horodnicdragos/grau.jpg

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d51/horodnicdragos/Flowerun.jpg

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d51/horodnicdragos/dandelion.jpg

-This is a shiled I did for fun. This was made in February as far as I can remember.

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d51/horodnicdragos/ef893e67.jpg

-Now this is the first new model I did for TR only.

http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/9696/urnfortrva4.jpg

-Ok we continue with a necklace. Tip: Hamerfell? Still working on the alpha maps.

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/8460/nackelacefortray7.jpg

-This is just an ordinary claymore. The idea went into my head and I got to model it.

http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/3411/unnamedsword2xw5.jpg

http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/2089/unnamedswordru6.jpg

-These require some work. I made these googles from on of Lutemoth's concept art.

http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/7755/googlesfortr1no0.jpg

http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/6276/googlesfortr2lo5.jpg

Here's the piece I used if it helps at something.

http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/4682/morrowindstuffgv6.jpg

-Here's a skull I did while I was boring arround my PC. It still needs to be textured but I have no idea what it can be used for so...

http://img70.imageshack.us/img70/2431/skullfortr3je8.jpg

-Now let's get to some organic stuff. Here's a camel. I know TR has one already but I was just told to do one.

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d51/horodnicdragos/camely.jpg

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d51/horodnicdragos/cammell-1.jpg

I still have to work on organic stuff especially on muscles.

-Here's another blade I did recentily. I had no time to texture it.

http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/8807/swordbl1.jpg

This is the conept. The long blade form the middle.

http://img304.imageshack.us/img304/7671/bladehf8lh.jpg

-This is something I did for something else but it's still a model though. Hope I won't see these in my kitchen hehe...

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d51/horodnicdragos/maggots.jpg

-And finally this is something I did this night. It's a kind of vegetable like chilli. Anyways I found the shape interesting so I gave it a try. did'nt have time for textures.

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d51/horodnicdragos/fructy.jpg

I also took a shoot of the real one. Sorry for the bad quality photo. My crappy cam.

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d51/horodnicdragos/DVC01056.jpg

Oh well that would be all for now. I'll also provide the polycounts a bit more later. Hope it's good. Let me take a look at the polycounts and edit my post.

I fall under that category (unfortunately) :( , but nice to meet you. Those models look highly impressive. Hope you get promoted soon.

Interesting question. Well first of all I didn't like the fact tht I had a bad reputation, and that's not good so I thought I might try to "clean" myself. I also tried other communities but I wasn't too fond of them. It's just hard to explain.

Don't be sad. I don't think you would have liked me if you were part of the other category.

So here I am. Thanks for replies.

Very very nice models, Horodnic.

I will mention, however, that the texture of the necklace that you used has a reflection of the one that took the picture of it in the gem part of it. :P

Overall, they're very very nice. Polycounts would be nice to see too, of course.

I know. I used the same texture at the googles if you haven't noticed already. I'll see what I can do with reflections. Now as I promised here are the polycounts:

The flowers are between 20 and 100 triangles.

The shield is about 1600 triangles as far as I remember from last time. I don't have the file anymore sadly.

The urn is 372 quads. That's 744 triangles.

The nakelace is 268 triangles. It uses alpha maps. That's most of the shape except the orb.

The claymore is 704 triangles.

Googles are 167 quads. Again this means 332 triangles.

The skull is 6173 triangles. I didn't look at the polycount on this one.

The camel is aproximaley 8000 triangles. I can't get an accurate number.

The sword is 478 triangles. (the untextured one)

Each maggot is 82 triangles.

And finally the strange vegetable is 437 triangles.

I apreciate the fact that you like it. But I also want to read constructive comments. I'm not blaming anyone. Just a though.

Unfortunately, no modellers have posted yet, so we really can't comment on this sort of thing. I'm sure someone who can'll come around soon.

Well, you've got pretty much everything up there as far as categories go. Except for architecture... I don't suppose you've ever tried your hand at that, have you?

That clamour is really good. How do get those reflections that make the blade look so shiny? The handle is very nice as well. You are G00D!!!

Thank you! As I mentioned in your showcase they are combinations between gloss maps and displacement maps. I've been using blender for some time though. And thanks for welcoming me back Massey. :)

Glad you're still around, Horodnic! And I'm happy to see you never gave up on modding or modelling. I'm sure you'll be promoted in no time with things of that quality. (Also, if I may, your grammar has improved dramatically.) Very nice work.

Alright, past=delete. Everyone should have a second chance in anything they do. Good to see you back Drag, cool work. Your skills have been significantly upgraded, which is...good! 8)
Concepts? How many would you like? Head over to the CA forum and take your pic, we're not short on that.

damn, ure stuff is so good. my modellings coming along but i just wish i could get to grips with blender. 3d max is fine but i really need some 'free' software.

anyways, the camel is looking better from that side view (angled one) looks out of proportionas i said the other night.
the flowers are especially nice with those detailed textures.
the short blade ius probably my favorite piece, i've always had a 'thing' for weapons with holes in. :P

maybe if you did a claymore or longblade version.

also, is the shield texture bump mapped or is it the mesh thats 'nobbely'?

Here's something new. I didn't have what to do last night so I thought I may model some cute fish. I love these creatures. :)

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d51/horodnicdragos/fishfortr.jpg

The polycount is 390 triangles each fish you see in the picture. It's the same all over just resized and moved on the screen in order to show you more parts of it. I didn't find any architecture cocnepts that I would like to model. I'm still looking. There's a guy called lb003g0676 in here. I was thinking of modeling some of his stuff.

A quicker way to say his name is 'Pound'. :D I like your models, but I would like to see the fish's front view. Could you post it up?

Oh yes, and welcome back. :)) (Though the wording seems strange as we haven't met before...)

Wow, that is one impressive fish! I love the way you've textured it. Also, lb003g0676 is known as "Pound" around the forums (Because lb is the abreviation for pounds.) and I'm sure he'd be honored for you to model his stuff.

You're shitting me. That's only 400 triangles? Horodnic, I see you've became very good in texturing, would you want to help us in that part? Goldmoor region (the first one of Hammerfell) needs quite a few textures. If you want to do some architecture as well, send me a pm and I'll send you one of the approved concepts. Concerning Goldmoor, send a pm to Morden or Noirgrim, and they'll fill you in on what the priorities are in that department.

Morgoth: What do all people here mean by "Pound"? I don't get it. Sicne about the texture was thinking of adding some alpha maps for his wings.

CleverClothe: It can be even better after I get this animated. I am looking for some tutorials. I didn't manage to do any animations in blender.

El Scumbago: Yes. I'll see what I can texture. I'm still learning. :) Do you want a wireframe or something? Sure you can send me some concepts and I'll see what I can model and what I can't. I lose details on bigger things if you remember those towers from my first showcase...

Generally speaking I'm glad you all like it. I'll try to improve it here and there and see how it looks in game. I'll work some more on it tonight.

DOT3 bump map, gloss map and of course color map. I think most of the object in Oblivion use these two. If you haven't noticed all Oblivion nif files include at least these name of textures:
texturename.dds (Color map)
g_texturename.dds (Gloss map)

I'm not sure. I don't have oblivion sadly. I read about this in a tutorial from niftools.

Now I'm going to make some more.

Our modellers are few and lack time. I doubt any of them are watching the showcase forum. I'll try to get it into their attention, because we really need new modellers. This counts for all showcases I've seen pop up lately.

I'm sorry if any of the aspiring new modders feel offended by a lack of attention to their showcases.

I haven't posted in this Showcase yet, but I've been in contact with Horodnic over MSN since before he was unbanned. It hasn't gone unnoticed, I've just kept all the specifics to private chats instead. This modeller's work has not gone unnoticed, don't worry :)

I will suggest this modeller for promotion. I hope you can get your hands on Oblivion to see how your work looks in the big picture, but I can always add the models :)

For clarity, this guy that did the art - lb003g0676 - is called "Pound" around the forums, because it's easier to say than his actual name. It's a "nick-name", if you get what I mean. Oh, and congratulations on the promotion!

Your style in art has changed drastically, and has changed into a very Lutemoth looking style. Was it influenced from him?

Anyhoo, crazy models, you must have practiced alot in teh half year you left.
