Third times the charm. I would like to claim this landmass to begin work on.

What will I do with it? Make it look awesome and fun to play of course haha.

Granted, make us proud! :-)

And you don't /have/ to make a post; you can leave the text box blank and it will simply only move the claim to pending without posting a message.

I made the first part of the road, I'm using an IC bridge as a place holder for now. Has anyone else noticed that there are flowers/rocks where roots should be?

We have roots? I haven't used them yet in any claims... I think flowers and rocks around trees creates a nice scene, as long as you remember to paint the ground with a NoGrass texture (+ vertex shading), it'll look good...

actually, yes. the roots are located in the flora tab i believe. the change in their form ID caused all kinds of weird shit with region generation (and probably is the cause of those load error messages).

Update! Finished the exterior for the cave. It is off of the main road, there is a little path leading to it. I nested it in the side of a hill.

There is a spot where the road textures wont show up, so I'm going to put an extra turn in the road. Found this out after I cleared a bunch of rocks, lol. When will the gm bridge be finished?

Most common cause for this is too many textures in a quad of a cell. While in Landscaping mode, push the I key. Check the new window to see if the quarter of the cell where the road texture won't appear is full. Right click to delete/replace textures in the lists.

If that's not what you mean, then you'd need to provide more detail.

I'll give this one a shot now that I've been 'tagged' for exteriors and all. I do have two questions tho:

1) What (if anything) do i need to do in terms of LODs? I ask because it is the one area i will likely need help with.

2) Can i get some idea on what is meant to be in the cave and mine? Because a bandit cave would likely have some sort of small bandit presence at its entry point (small camp, clutter, etc).

Other than that...

CLICKITY!

I've had a look at the 2 interiors, the mine matches up almost perfectly with an 'abandoned quarry' exterior idea i had for the pre-existing location near the bridge. (Speaking of which, to be able to complete the crossing properly i will need a suitable bridge mesh. I know what i want to do, i just cant make it work unless i have an actual bridge to work with for purposes of dimensions and the like. I'll leave it plain for now, but any sort of an ETA on a goldmoor road bridge would be helpful).

The double access cave will be further north with the enterences on opposite sides of the river (terrain allowing). The second un-trapped enerence will be made so it is only accessable from the outside to those with exceptionaly high acrobatics (in theory anyway).

Any comments/suggestions/vetos?

So i bet your wondering, two weeks and zip - this guy have his thumb up his rear end or what...

What:

Two weeks ago my 7600gt graphics card desided to pack it in after two and a half years of faithful service. This happened to occur at a moment when i had all of about $10 to replace it with :(. I was successfuly able to improvise and am now the proud owner of a 9500gt...

God i wish that were all, but its not... because no sooner had i got my system back in shape but my hometown gets hit by torential rain that takes out my phone line and my internet conection with it, which unfortunately had the side effect of leaving me jaded and uninspired to say the least.

Finaly, the work i had been able to start on has been mysteriously lost... just disapeared, I'm gonna have to start again... BUT I HAVE IDEAS!! Expect a basic WIP in a week max with some detail within two.

Well it seems I've gotten the work plan backwards... Instead of big, sweeping, vague, changes, I've instead done a bunch of small, detailed, and specific changes.

The mine/cave enterence created by the previous claiment was lacking to my mind, especialy as the location was to my mind perfect for a small abandoned stone quary (to match the abandoned mine interior slated as being within this claim). Well, heres a WiP screenshot of the mine/quary as it stands now:

Note, pathway to mine enterence invisble due to overhangs. Look close at the bucket, there are rocks in it :D

looks fantastic! small, detailed, specific changes are just fine, in fact they are great :)

make sure to upload wips to the thread so that i can look at them and so that they are kept safe should anything happen to your computer.

things happening to my computer... Like my modem cutting out at randome intervals? INCLUDING THE LAST THREE TIMES I HAVE TRIED TO POST THIS VERY MESSAGE!!!!!

WiP file should be posted now too, though I've done very little to the claim thus far...

PS: What is the specific command line i need to use to coc myself to my claim in-game? I have tried a couple of different thing but nothing...

if youre in cyrodiil, you need to type

Code: Select all

cow TRHammerfell x,y
where x,y are the coordinates of the cell youre trying to reach (such as 1,18 at the edge of your claim)

More detailing on the mine, but my main work had been on the road. Smothed level adjustments to make oposite sides of the road more even (the whole raised edge thing). i have also gone about 'edging' the road in a different texture as just having the road texture itself didn't look particularly realistic, I have found TrTerrainGrassRock01 works well, if only because it convieniently seems to be without the actual 'grass' part. (My having updated my version of Oot having fixed the invisible grass issue i had been having). Am i safe in doing this or is there some specific plan to how to 'blend' roads into the surrounding terrain?

And a specific question for LN (as you have the Taneth claim and all): What considerations should i make for agriculture along the western border of this claim (if any)?

PS: I though 'coc' & 'cow' would have the same effect - apparently not...

cow - "center on world" lets you change worldspaces
coc - "center on cell" lets you teleport to named cells or exteriors within the same worldspace
coe - "center on exterior" teleport to an exterior coordinate within the same worldspace

if its a major road i'd prefer it left as the goldmoor road texture. there is also a helkori road texture that might work, but imo its better to keep it all the same type. if its a smaller road we tended to use the goldmoor gravel.

in terms of agriculture, i'd say no. maybe a single house and a small surrounding farm if you have a lot of open space near a road, but otherwise no.

Whoops... I wasn't suggesting changing the road texture itself, just the edges. You know, like in Cyrodill they have one texture for the center of the road and a different texture down each side to make it 'blend in' to the surrounding terrain better.

As for the 'farmland' i wasn't actually thinking of houses or anything, but fenced paddocks for livestock or crop that would be owned and tended by people living inside the city walls. The largest "buildings" would be sheepfold style things, or a small 'tool shed' at most.

ill take a look at how close this claim is to taneth, but a small farm or pasture might be ok.

touching up the sides of the road should be fine :)

Timed perfectly to co-incide with my adding a screenie of my roadworks :D

PS: For what I've been able to tell the western edge of my claim is right outside the east wall of the city.
