Might be able to help

Post by joel_green »

Hey guys,

I got here through ModDB. I'm actually a student at the Vancouver Film School right now, studying Sound Design, and I'm looking to help out with the project. I don't have a lot of time, but what I do have is access to gear, software, and a decent sound library. I've got some editing chops, and I'm learning more every day.

Unfortunately I just traded my PC for a macbook, but I'll probably get parallels pretty soon so that I can run PC software. I just got Oblivion on 360, and am loving it.

Let me know some of the things you are looking for in terms of sounds and I'll see if I can cook something up over my spring break.

Hey, welcome to the forums Joel!

I conjured up some assignments that we need for Hammerfell at one point or another. Try the ones you feel inclined to ;).

1. A Savannah or Desert sound ambiance is needed for non-music atmosphere. Perhaps also a city ambiance too, but with not too much vocal stuff, since the NPCs usually chatter in Oblivion anyway.

2. Camel Sounds, which include footsteps, attack, idle, death, injury sounds. It would be great if you had something in your sound library/databases for these. I realize the sound of a camel dying isn't a widespread resource :P.

3. If you want to show off your creativity, you can always check out threads, such as Lutemoth's, in the concept art forum for some unique creature designs. The only drawback with this is that we're not sure which concepts we'll definitely use yet, although the Medusa (or Mad-Hoosa), Manticore and Harpy are good bets.

4. Quagmire (Nightmare Realm) ambiance (either with effects, music or both) and sounds to make the player jump out their chairs.

One more thing, we're always looking for good voice actors. If you or any of your friends (preferably with "mature" voices) want a shot at Stirk dialogue, or want to register in the VA database for future use, give it a go :)

It's always great to see another person with skills in sound here. If you want to become a "modder", feel free to make a Showcase in the showcase forum as a place to develop and display your skills, I'm sure you'll be promo'd in no time ;)
P.S. Please don't make handbags, wallets, belts or shoes out of Orix
