Order of the Minstrel

Post by Arcadea »

A group of knights dedicated to protecting woundering Bards they are the knights and guardians of the Bards college. I made this up what do to you think.
I said I would return and I may have been right. The past must stay in the past as agreed. If the core needs me or has a job for me just ask for now I watch and write.

Sounds like the Knights of the Lamp. For Bards.
I have kleptomania, but when it gets really bad, I take something for it.

Troubadors never needed these services--they were far too expensive. They usually made their way around medieval Europe by seeking protection in numbers--following groups of pilgrims, trade caravans and the like. It would be unrealistic for a bard to have the money to hire protection--they were never in that much of a rush to get anywhere.

Bards were well respected in courtly kingdoms, and thus had special protection under law - crimes against a wandering bard were considered very heinous since at any one time they were usually in the employ of several kingdoms, and everyone knows that killing off the Duke's favorite entertainer is a good way to get yourself hung :)

Having said that i dont think a Guild along these lines is a bad idea, perhaps your idea is a bit too specific Arcadea, having an order of wandering knights that protect travellers should be sufficiently detailed - Order of the Boot perhaps!! :D

Well, bards (and singing in general) seems to be of great importance to nords, singing being connected to their religion. Thus, I don't really think this is 100% comparable to anything historical. Thus, maybe, there might be such an order, in Skyrim, attached to the bards college. And maybe they follow the BG whereever they are, and make up a defensive arm of the college. They might not be the Knights of Stendarr, but should be able to hold their ground.

For now, I'm sleeping in my lightless city beneath the waves.

But someday ... I will be back.

Them that can, sing; them that can't, guard?

While high profile musicians have their body guards, I'd find that a very boring job in-game.

I don't really mind this guild.
But I whould rather see us working on something else. Right now this isn't really needed.
If you don't bother with your past history. How do you know where your currently at? It's past what makes us who we are. And who we will be. Ignoring that, is ignoring who we are and where we're going.
