If your problem is in .nifskop you can make a custom collision mesh in blender.

Here's a link to the blender webpage:
http://www.blender.org/download/get-blender/

A link to the Niftool .nif export and import scripts:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=149157

And a link to tutorial on creating custom Collision meshes for your .nif file:

Save the scene -> Ctrl + A -> Go to the utilities panel -> Reset X-Form -> Export the mesh -> Load the previously saved scene, without saving changes.

OR

Save the scene -> Select the collision mesh -> Go to the utilities panel -> Reset X-Form -> Export the mesh.

That will fix all your problems with collisions :) (at least it does for me) Granting.

It needs to be an octagon. Aro will agree. Also, remember Gez is HoCA now so he has authority in this matter.

Nah, the façade. :P

Joking, yeah, it's the base. No concept art of it as far as I know. "Just" split it up to detach the four sides, then duplicate a (non-façade) side to get four more and arrange them in a neat regular octagonal pattern.

Though you may keep a backup of the square version. Who knows, it might be of use later.

Aro have said so MANY times...

Take your existing mesh, save the entrance bit an one of the sides. Make an octagonal base, twist the side wall to match the base and copy and repeat, or make a new one. Whatever is easiest ( I have no idea how to operate a 3d program)

Nice mesh though

edit - gez, we ninja each other...

Oh dear, quid pro quo. I though that by base you meant the base shape of the temple itself. Which is why I was talking about copying the walls.

Make both the structure and base ocagonal.

Send 100£ to my account and you will have a concept of it by tomorrow ;P

Just add 4 courners to the structure as both me and gez suggested and it will be fine, or if you make a new one from scratch.

Octagonal everything.

As far as concept art goes, you've got that one from Harke:

Now just imagine if Harke's temple and the one in the job description loved each other very much and had a baby. It would have the octagonal shape of Harke's and the façade and side walls of the concept. Yeah. Dig it?

Gez is 100% right. I actually can give a concept for this if you still want me to explain the octagonal thing :)

It's simple as that. ATM, your temple has 4 sides of walls. While an octagon has 8. If your temple will have 8 sides of walls, that will like just fine.

although I must say, prefer the Square one.
just seems more impressive somehow

Yeah, because you're using Harke's walls (small with a single arch) rather than the concept's walls (long with four arches). We told you to keep the walls and façade of the concept art, just with seven normal walls and one façade.

(Please don't get fed up with the claim. You will get it right eventually. :)))

Right...

I did some cleaning on your mesh, because it had a lot useless polies and that type of junk.

Please have a look. Reducing polies by 1/3 with keeping the effect unchanged shouldn't be neglected.

at IRC there has been some discussion about what we should actually take as the original design. I personally didn't like the octagonal thing because IMO it doesn't give much space for nice looking frescoes and mosaics, which, IMO, are awesome.(especially since CA's already made some awesome looking pieces) Therefore I asked Lady N if I could use a style similar to the Byzantine/Russian orthodox churches/temples because that does give space for the nice decorations, and she thought that was okay.

Of course I will try adapt the vision of most TR members, but for now I will continue with what I have now. I'll let the core decide if I can continue with the Byzantine/orthodox Russian temple style idea or work on that octagonal temple.

the new temple: i love it. it has two problems however
-it is very cool and unique, making it hard to use many times over.
-it appears to be quite large, i am not sure how well it will fit into Rihad or Taneth.

the old temple: latest file (aro's) is in max, so someone needs to convert it over. judging by the older file, i think it needs more detail. i also think that its too small, making it rather anticlimactic.

any way you can do both? once you convert the max into a usable format you could add a little more detail to it, map it, and slap on a texture (im willing to help out). the larger one can maybe be made slightly smaller and then detailed and mapped with the same textures as the other one. it can then be a unique city temple, im thinking Hegathe.

Doing both is okay. I'll just make this one smaller and detail the existing octagonal mesh. Uploading the new temple wip for aro.

Lady Nerevar, the max file I uploaded is JUNK. Forget it. I just uploaded it to show Angelus how much better it can be done polywise. Don't even try to use it.

Jelle, I like your temple very much. It's polywise. The only part that might need some redoing is the front with those implemented arches. But you do not need to care too much about it. Some edges still need smoothing (chamfering). These ones for example:

alright, if working with the file Angelus provided there are other things to fix. notably there are a lot of hidden faces (bottoms, insides of things) that need to be removed. part of the temple was flashing in nifskope, indicating overlapping faces.

also, dont forget to resize your model before its done :P i went to test it in the CS and its *tiny*

Chamfered edges and made it less wide, also tweaked the towers a bit.

Basically because TR doesn't have to o many modellers. We could plan out two types of bridges, two types of docks, two types of this, two types of that and we'd end up in the middle of nowhere.

BUT. All in all, modding is just a hobby, so if someone wants to make something that is useful, there is no reason to stop him.

I strongly agree with Morden that the original design was better, for reasons I already said to you in IRC. It was, in fact, designed to include frescos on each of its 8 outer and 8 inner sides, without requiring a modular interior tileset.

This seems too unique to use more than once. Also the dome on top is too squished. I haven't been following along with the progress of this model, but I agree with Sload and Morden; the circular design was more universal, simpler, and complete.
