WereRat Showcase

Post by wererat »

Hello there, as you can see by the title and the username to your left, I am WereRat. I am interested in modding for this community again after a ~3year break (grew tired of TES:3 after 2years of constant play, and only recently got a computer that can run TES:4).

I have contributed a few exterior claims to this project. 5-12 with the city Gargon Huul, 4-25 with the bandit fort made entirely of dock posts, and 2-4 even though it is credited to Haplo. I distinctly remember working on it since it was my first claim haha.

Unfortunately I have very little experience with anything other than exterior work. I am still working on the interior of the showcase, but here is the exterior more or less finished (thinking of adding a cave on the back of the island at water level). But there are three things that need to be noted before starting:
  • The island is in a separate World Space (AAA), so to get there you must 'coc AAAT'. I have noticed that every now and then it will teleport you inside one of my rocks and you will become stuck. If this persists you may have to go in the CS and remove said rock.

I suggest activating 'TGM' if you decide to go near/on the tiny island to the west of the main one

At the bottom of the island I was getting an odd texture problem where it was a hodgepodge of various textures I had used on the island until I got the desired look. No matter what I tried I could not get rid of the small square of the wrong textures so I did my best at hiding it

Wererat, from the looks of it I'd say that you know how to use the Region Generator tool. This knowledge alone is valuable and, if you possess it, I'm all for your promotion.

Hmmm it may be due to the rock problem I mentioned in my first post. Here is a revision of the plug-in without the said rock. If your problem continues, let me know and I will look into other possibilities. I will also remove the 2 NPCs (WereRat and his victim), the bush that is for some reason taking a swim off the coast, and the Ebony Sword that isn't staying in the rock like Excalibur haha.

Also I assume you have Shivering Isles installed and running since I use it in the Showcase (a few bushes among the rocks). I am still new to the Oblivion editor/PC edition so can only assume it forces you to have Shivering Isles running when you go to play the showcase.

edit: 'coc AAAT' seems to have a fetish for putting me in rocks. After I removed the first problem rock, it started to teleport me into another so I had to destroy that one as well. Then it seemed it tried to put me in a tree but I slid out haha. Because of this the lowest section of the island will be a bit bare.

I am still getting the hang of it (only had the CS for about 2days now) but I seem to be progressing with it nicely. Sure is a lot easier than the way I had to go about working in TES:3 haha.

Also would you happen to know the location of a rowboat like I have in the showcase? I had to use the quest one from Bravil because I could not recall the location of any others or find them in the object lists.

I suppose you mean which tab are they in, in the Construction Set, right? They're in the same tab with ships, but I don't remember the exact name. Try the statics one, I can't think of anything else atm.

Thanks I was able to find it. Since I had some free time today I decided to add a little on. I made the interior of the house with minimal clutter (still working on it but get distracted with the exteriors) and added 3 more small islands.

Also I would suggest doing 'coc AAAI' instead of 'AAAT' with this version. AAAI will take you to the tallest island (one with the house) so you don't run the risk of getting stuck in a rock.

Wow. This is beautiful. I really wish I knew how to escape the Cyrodiil-dependant landscapes on new worlds and make such a beautiful landmass (yeah, JUST the landmass is good enough) for my Ayleid-dwelling island.

Right now I'm stuck on the side of some hill. I wish I knew how to use the land generator. If someone were to tell me, i would do so well on it, i bet.

Too bad im not a mooch and this area is probably going to be used for TR, otherwise i would ask to use it...

Congratulations! It's a really nice spot. It wouldn't fit in with Vaernima's realm, but it looks like a perfect, soothing pocket realm for some wizard. (Judging from the screenshots at least). I hope TR will be able to find some use for it. :D
