Map 5 Download (Velothi Mountains/Ash Swamp/Uld Vraech)

Post by Haplo »

10/2014 edit: these files are now here.

Map 5

Includes: Alpha Version - Exteriors
-----------------------------------------
Data Files for Map 5
TR_Data.esm & TR_Data.bsa are required for Map 5 to run properly. They can be found at the Objects of Tamriel link above.

Download Here: Obsolete, don't use this for new claims - see below in attachments!!
OBSOLETE Map 5 OBSOLETE

Nemon- Edit January 2nd 2011:
This is the basic map file to be used in the (soon to come) map 5 claims. It contains nothing else than the basic landscaping for this region and some regional border lines (Velothi Mountains - Uld Vraech - Ash swamp).

Upon working on your claim, make sure to remove the vertex coloring (I used it for keeping track of height) and the random statics I've added as well. The landscaping is just the basic layout of this region, it's up to the modder to make sure every cell is as interesting, adequately detailed and interesting as possible, making these regions interesting to explore and beautiful to look upon.

For inspiration, please see 4-16, 4-22, 4-43 and especially 5-15. I'll make sure every claim gets a thorough explanation when they are made available for claiming.

(edited Fri Jan 7th, new file)

Nemon- Edit March 12th 2011:

Ash swamp concept finished, see the attached file for reference. It can be loaded together with the heightmap file. Note that the cells aren't complete, some areas will seem bare. But the areas around the road is mostly done. Also see notepad file for extra info.

Nemon- Edit November 3rd 2012:

New map 5 file in post, use this for claims put up now. See claim description for additional info.

Nemon- Edit February 24th 2013:

Newest map 5 file.

Map 5 has been updated to include the Dunmereth Pass meshes. The cells are Dunmereth Pass1 through Dunmereth Pass8 if you care to coc to them and take pictures. Enjoy!

I actually don't see any new Dunmereth Pass mesh in both game and CS: looking at the 'statics' CS window, it lists the new pieces but list every of them with 0, the only thing i get is the gate.

Maybe a problem of missed references or such, like what's happened with Map 1 first release (it was also a conflict with Gez's 'Connections' plug - in, now fixed)?

Update your TR_Data files, and/or register your .bsa. The files were lost until recently so they aren't in any old versions of TR_Data.

Ok, i guess i have to download the latest TR_Data from the browser, right? The only one i use i the one that comes with Map 1 v1.11 Public (then probably it doesn't contains what i'm looking for, you're right).

yeah, that one is REALLY old, but works for the purpose of map 1. The one in the browser has the dunmereth meshes.

(Probably i'm missing something) I have downloaded the updated .bsa, .esm and all the stuff from here, replaced the old files with the new ones, checked the Archive 3=TR_Data.bsa in my .ini file (since BSAReg says that 'every archive has been already registered'), but i only get error markers.

I'm sure i did something wrong, but what?

There is an extra dot (.) in the name of the new TR_data.bsa. Thats why the bsa registerer cant register it. I believe that removing the extra dot and then register it worked for me.

Where it is? I can't see it (as the new meshes); by the way, many people are having troubles with the BSAReg thing...

Being busy with the quests for Map 1, I still haven't re - checked the TR_Data.bsa; I will do that as soon as possible though. :)

- EDIT: The probles is fixed. Downloaded and installed both the updated TR_Data.esm and TR_Data.bsa and now the Dunmereth Pass meshes are there. :)

Well I finally decided to download Map5

All I can say is WOW, Its SOOO clean... everything just seems to fit in in Map5 and there are so little errors. And even if their are errors, they are almost all minor.

At this stage Map5 is Definetly going to be my favourite area to explore.

And Kogo'tel does rock!, It's sort of an odd city but it works together well.

ok, I am sorry, but you must be some kind of moron. The vast majority of map 5 is going to be redone due to insane quantities of suck. In order to say it has no errors, you must have never left Kogo'tel, or simply have no eye at all for error reporting. Map 5 is actually our worst map. Map 6 would be worse, but most shit there never even got merged.

Perhaps it would be easier to make whole map 5 anew, instead of detailing it.

Look, all I did was load Map 5 and skim through the major (and some minor) parts of the map and the northern border with Solstheim, for about 40 mins, before I slept. (So yes in a way, "I never left Kogo'tel")

I wasnt really playing it to look for errors, just to see what was done. There's obviously errors, Theres always errors. But all I meant in reguards to lack of errors was that about the actaul enviroment of Map 5 (Enviroment as in influences/impacts of surroundings, not necessarily trees/rocks/terrain etc.).
To me its just seems more content/serenly blended in a different way to what Ive seen in the other maps. Which is why I like it.

Lets just leave it at that. Period.

There might be some missing textures, when loading via MGEXE I got some missing textures for two or three mushroom textures and skyrim_roof_panels_01. The problem might be on my end, it might have some uncleanliness, but most likely Nemon has so many textures and projects he forgot to include some in the pack. Or again, it could be me.

can somebody link me to a .bsa/something including TR\x\redorancapital.nif referenced from static TR_ex_r_baanmalur in Cell TR_5-1_Red_Baan Malur of Clean_TR_Map5Merge.ESP ?
I hope it/a replacement exists somewhere as it seems to be central to Baan Malur.

You mean this TR_Data.7z (Last modified 21 Nov 2012 13:09, Size 78.7 MB) downloaded from here?
No mesh inside. If mesh is being hidden/worked, a pity but no problem.
If that TR_Data.7z is not the right file, maybe link info on top post should be fixed to point to the right file.

Noticed a random little thing while looking around the map:

TR_Map5Merge2013.esp Ex_common_plat_LRG TR_5-26 (-21, -3) -166286, -24278, 1393 "vertical beam caspers"

Also, I'm assuming that the file above is mainly for the Uld Vraech claims, and that the extensive, if generally subtle, land tearing I found all along the ash swamp region claim borders isn't a problem.

Land tear at the ash swamp region? That is odd, I can't seem to recall that from my latest checkups on this file.

Here are two without the borders enabled so that you can see the tears better. They're of the southern edge of 5-3-Red, looking east.

No statics:

With statics:

That's just a sample. I found tears along the edges of pretty much every claim south of 5-17-Red, getting more minor the further north they go. Just to be sure, I deleted and re-downloaded the plugin. It might still be on my end; the tears seem too extensive to have gone unnoticed.

Aha. Border seams, not land tears. For a land tear example, see Swiftoak's third upload in 5-32.

Border seams are just mismatched borders between claims, due to the fact that these claims were initiated before we did the heightmap base file thingy.

Land tears are large parts of your cell dropping x amount of z value, leaving a perfectly shaped terrain and floating statics, plus the occasional insane flat tall ridge running through said cell, often at the edge. It's a bug that makes no sense whatsoever. Mismatched borders are easier to explain.

Ah, my mistake. That also explains the border of my 5-9. I've probably become a little paranoid after a few run-ins with land tears with my own projects.
