Napoleoman Showcase

Post by napoleoman »

Greetings. I am new to this mod, but have been a long time fan of Morrowind and Oblivion. I could probably help out in a couple different areas, but I feel my strongest suit would be conceptual design.

Here are some pictures Ive done to give you an idea of what I can do:

I would also like to see a sample of your fantasy work.

Thanks for the comments. I was looking around the site and trying to find out some stuff that's needed. Is a conceptual artist even needed at this point? It seems like the "claims" section only has interior and exterior tiles. Also, there seems to be some stuff here and there about Oblivion, but the majority seems to be concerning Morrowind, so which game is being used for the mod? Or are there 2 being created at the same time (one for oblivion and one for morrowing).

Anyway, if somebody could kinda point me in the right direction for where I should go to get info on conceptual art needed, I would greatly appreciate it... 'cause Im ready to make some drawings!

You could draw some characters from the first post of the politics thread. Bear in mind that they are

Psst, I'm passing you a note.

Fassi m'Akatten (Redguard) - Patriarch of the Akatten family and the head of a vast criminal Empire. He's pretty much a greedy immoral bastard, so make him look like a mobster. He smokes something (hackle-lo probably) out of something which resembles a cigarette held in a cigarette holder and is probably dressed somewhat like the rich folks in Oblivion.

Admiral Bristov Damasca (Imperial) - Admiral of the Imperial Navy, head of the legion forces in Hammerfell. He bears a strong resemblance to Andrew Jackson but with a wider face. He's gotta be decked out in some sort of light-armor version of the legion armor or whatever else you think an Imperial Admiral's uniform would look like.

Utei Yaswa Ei-Azel (Redguard) and Eno Mareth (Dark Elf) - Two folks in one please. Yaswa is the utei (or "king") of Hegathe. He should have a bony face and be dressed traditionally (see Lutemoth's art for examples of traditional wear). Eno Mareth is his bodyguard and the ("alleged") head of his secret police force, he wears all black, including a shemagh wrapped around his head.

Raha Treigo (Redguard) - The leader of the city of Rihad and a buff guy, he got there by fighting. He bears a resemblance to his namesake, Danny Trejo (so not joking) with fro hair, and should be dressed rather unsophisticatedly.

Others include King Lhotun, Duchess Clavilla, and High Prophet Ayaan-Si, I'll describe them in a bit.

Welcome to the forums. TR is both an Oblivion and Morrowind project. Though it maybe not seem like it on the public forums, there is quite a lot going on with Oblivion. We are mostly designing and modeling new art to be used in the game. We have generated the 'Goldmoor Region' and construction has begun on the cities of a Rihad and Taneth. These cities are being built using unique TR models and textures... its all a work in progress, and we could certainly use your talents in designing new architecture, weapons, and miscellaneous items.

We are create a unique culture, and have developed some unique styles... especially with the help of our Concept Art Moderator "Lutemoth". Take a look at his CA thread to get an idea of some cultural themes we've been following... gods and worship, ceremonial clothing, armor, weapons, ect. Most of his art is centered around the traditional Yokudan culture which exists separate of Imperial influence.

Welcome to the forums :) As it was said, we have a need for concept artists. There is a lot to be designed for Hammerfell. For example, you can try some architecture. There are some quite interesting FCG(Focused concept group) threads in the concept art forum that need ideas. Hammerfell docks, or the Palace/Keep are the best examples.
PoHa: how can we best this trio of trouble? who will save us from this menace of sub-par models? what will we do?
PoHa: I know! we'll shoot an Aro at them
Aro: you have only one Aro missile!
PoHa: yes, but its heat seeking and quite possibly indestructible

I wanted to have many more done, but Im really slammed right now and wont be able to do anything else till probably tuesday :(

Edit:
Also, should I put this in the Concept Art forum? I didnt want to because Im new here and didnt want to just throw my stuff in.

Amazing detailwork with the lineage. Do you draw, scan, then colour or do you start from scratch in the comp?

Thanks for all the positive feedback. This image, and most concept art I do, is done completely on the computer start to finish with a Wacom tablet. I do, however, use traditional mediums such as charcoal pencils, vine charcoal, ink washes, etc on most non-concept stuff I do.

The nice thing is that those skill easily carry over when using a wacom tablet.

Congrats, seldom do we see such a fast promotion! As for concept art, we need dozens of random clutter, low- mid and high class clutter to use in Goldmoor, Rihad, Taneth and everywhere else.

Completed Content

Post by napoleoman »

I have a question about the content already completed for the game. Which files do I have to download, and do I run it like a normal mod to see it in morrowind/oblivion. Or do I have to use the construction set to see what's been done?

TR_Data and the relevant maps (1-6) are what you need for morrowind
OoT and the relevant maps (7->) are what you need for Oblivion.
The .bsa needs to be registered for TR_data to work. I don't remember if this is the same for OB.

Thrignar Fraxix wrote:The .bsa needs to be registered for TR_data to work. I don't remember if this is the same for OB.
Oblivion automatically loads BSA files that share their name with one of the ESP it loads. However, it does not load BSA files that share their names with one of the ESM, those have to be registered. And, contrarily to Morrowind, BSA registration in Oblivion is just one line (the one starting with SArchiveList=) with at most 255 characters of data, so it very ill-advised to call your BSA something like TR_OoT_Main.bsa when just TR.bsa would do. Especially given that the Oblivion - *.bsa (remember, Oblivion.ESM, not ESP, so there's no autoloading) already takes up 151 of those 255 characters...

Sharing a name doesn't mean having exactly the same name, here. It can be longer, which allows to create several different files starting all with the same name that will all be loaded. See Bethesda's own example with DLCShiveringIsles.esp, which is empty and is used just to trigger the loading of DLCShiveringIsles - Meshes.bsa, DLCShiveringIsles - Sounds.bsa, DLCShiveringIsles - Textures.bsa, and DLCShiveringIsles - Voices.bsa.

Oh yeah, and since we have decided TR Oblivion requires Shivering Isles, we could call our BSA something like DLCShiveringIsles - TamrielRebuilt.bsa...

However, the whole point is moot because, at the moment, OoT_Main doesn't use a BSA. So there's no need to worry about it. Just extract all the files in the proper directory.
