Fang Lair

Post by Rhymer »

This is the most famous place in all Hammerfell - the legend itself, ancient dwarven keep, misterious catacombs, where the irst part of the Staff of Chaos was hidden. What do we know about it?

I'll try to make some sketches in a day or two and now I offer you a picture from TES:Arena. Magneficant sight, isn't it?

Ah, I remember discussing this place way back in the early days of HF, before OB was released: When we didnt know much about HF lore and anything was possible :D

From the start we said, "This place has to change". The cool, but completely generic castle/dungeon is supposed to be Dwemer made. So, it's worth thinking about, but it needs to look different.
NEW MEMBERS: I'm not with TR anymore, so please stop PMing me. Just post your sample work in the showcase.

I did a crapload of Dwemer concepts, including Fang Lair. Check out my art thread.

There it is. You should be able to dig up some inspiration from there.

Let's remember that the Dwemer of Hammerfell are stylistically slightly more "glittery, shiney, precious metal" in comparison to the morrowind Dwemer - Like taking Morrowind Dwemeri building textures and saturating them (That's what beth did but the other way around - took redguard dwemer textures and desaturated them for morrowind).

Look to Redguard for inspiration and if you can't play it then look at the screenshots...the internet is sadly quite devoid of screens from redguard - so don't waste your time looking for them, 'cause i put loads of them (practically everything dwemeri in Redguard) together from the game and uploaded them here:

See, although slow and very rarely here, I'm good to you lot.

Two reasons:
1. Technical reason: Redguard had a more limited color palette.
2. In-game reason: Morrowind has a province is dirtied by the ashes and dust from the Red Mountain.
