Ghost Town in Morrowind?

Post by Sphynxette »

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but I was just thinking about a mini-quest idea for Morrowind. Please let me know if this is or isn't suitable for TR.

A small 'ghost-town' in a secluded location, maybe on the coast or in the wilderness. If you visit during the day there are no people and it seems that everyone just got up and left one day. There is a general spooky atmosphere. However if you visit at night, ancestral ghosts and the like appear.

One ghost inside a house may not be aggressive and may give you a quest relating to how the town became a 'ghost-town' etc.
Or it could be a quest given to you by an NPC in a separate town who asks you to unravel the mysteries of the ghost-town. Ofcourse, nobody knows where it is though.

I don't know, it sounds kind of silly and I haven't thought the whole thing through, but I thought I'd just put it out there.

There are ruined settlements all over Map 2 that this could work with.

If you want, come up with a more detailed plan for a quest, and put it in the Claims Design thread for Map 2 Wilderness quests. :)
a man builds a city
with
Banks and Cathedrals
a man melts the sand so he
can see the world outside

Hemitheon: I'm sorry, what?

Bloodthirsty Crustacean: Thanks. Can I still post in the design forum even if I'm not a TR Quester?

Vitharn is a ruined city (fortress?) in the Shivering Isles expansion of Oblivion. In it, ghosts keep reliving the same events, and it's your job to put them to rest.

We have a ghost canyon near Ranyon-ruhn in map1.

Ghost canyon? sweet!

Does this mean scrap the quest idea or post it anyway?

I don't see any harm in posting it. Like pretty much all of the contributions to TR, especially in the concept art area, there's a chance that it won't be used, but it doesn't hurt to try. :D

Yeh, post it up. :)

Aranyon Pass in Map 1 is just 'flavour', really, so it's not like we're over-running with ghost quests. :))

If explained correctly it could work well.

Hmmm...what if you could get an item from the ghost that only worked at night when the ghosts were out....

that would be interesting.

Mm... I've got the basic storyline down, but that's a really interesting idea. I'll have to check if you can code that.

You could do it by checking the game hour, then preventing use with PCSkipEquip/OnPCEquip (possibly with a Drop command in case they were already using it).

Thanks, I'll test it out in game when I get a chance to make sure it works (which I'm sure it does ;)
I'll get to it when school finishes next week.
