Unlocking. Detailing time! For the coast, please match it as close as possible to the latest file for 4-13-Hla, if that claim reaches far north enough to touch these cells (I'm not sure). Note that 4-13-Hla's latest file includes a lot of Map 3 land. The claimant needs to cut out the following four cells (Old Ebonheart) since that city is still being worked on.

6,-18
6,-19
7,-18
7,-19

Please note these are NOT the northwestern-most cells of this detailing claim.

Is it alright if I claim this seeing as I'm already detailing the central 4 cells? After checking the file here I noticed that there's a major difference in terrain height between Tyrion's file and this, which I've already done my best to fix up and make look nice. I can post a WIP immediately if required.

Granted.

An immediate file is always nice. It will allow for everyone to have a copy of the newer OE layout, as well.

Here you go. Still working on normalising the difference between the two files, but I think it'll turn out just fine.

Uploading a file for Tyrion to do something.

Made one major change: the large Imperial style mansion on the west end of the city was too large. Nothing really justifies having that much space in the city, so I instead made two smaller structures. One (the one that looks church-like) will serve as the Imperial Cult chapel for the town, the other is another large manor, but much more reasonable than the previous one. It can serve to house any number of wealthy individuals, although the best bet might be as the residence of the East Empire Company Grand Factor.

I also flattened the ridge line directly outside the walls and smoothed and landscaped a bit.

Sorry about the double post. After a flyover I noticed a couple things: the large rocks, like taller than the city walls large, were too close to the walls. I moved them back a bit so the city isn't being overshadowed by the terrain.

Oooh this is the first time I've really had a good look at OE.

Tyrion you've done a exceptionally awesome job :D !

I love how you used a different texture as a back alley between buildings, very nice.

btw this may sound a bit silly but do we actully have a bell for that bell tower? I couldnt find one in the TR_Data :?

Also something that caught my eye:

Those few chimneys coming out of the fort pieces? I guess they're fine, but idk it seems ever so slighty wierd though and same sort of feeling with the building on the north side of the wall (althought maybe in that case the building just needs shifting a bit).

Yeah IDK, thats just my opinion.

Eitherway great work, this will be yet another truly awesome city.

The castle is done and will not be changed

The chimneys are fine and were actually preferred by the persons involved in designing the new castle.

In the future RelinQ, if you feel you must post your opinion on something, please read through your post first to make sure it makes sense. Your wording was difficult to decipher. (such as why you underlined the word on)

Tyrion do you have a tentative percentage on the completion of this claim? Just so we know where we are after switching over from Cathartis.

I'm looking to get big chunks of this done over the next month. August will be very productive for me once I'm fully moved into my new apt.

I didn't really actually change anything here, just removed some WG rocks. However, I added a forge outside a house intended as a smithy and there is now a door in the back. I wanted to have a file uploaded just to make sure the interior modder does not miss that back door.

Removed all WG statics and textures. I also have a line of cliffs along the river for Aeven to match to in his claim. All the terrain editing is essentially done, so terrain can be matched along the southern border.

I'm relinquishing control of this claim as I haven't found the time or motivation to finish a claim this size.

What needs a doin:
OE is finalized, but still needs some more details. Containers and rubbish in the back alleys, some flora to brighten things up, and the whole thing needs lights yet.

I haven't started the undersea bit.

ND trees need to be added and the rest of the countryside area needs details such as small rocks and flora.

I haven't done that much to this one yet. The two western vertically aligned cells bordering the river needs to have their landscape drastically changed to avoid the thirr river being 1/5 of a cell wide at that point :) . The city itself only needs cluttering and detailing, my favourite thing.

You might think of removing the little finger of land between the castle and river, which would bring the castle directly to the mouth of the river, and pushing back the rest of the shoreline below that. I think much of the ridge line that borders the river could go to make the river a bit wider.

Okay, so I didn't get this one finished last week - big deal. Civilization 5, the new left four dead-campaign and minecraft stole my evening hours recently, but I did manage to cram in a few hours of static placement. 10 out of 20 cells are mostly finished, this includes the "water" cells bordering vanilla Morrowind and the west bank of the river. Since Civ5 is unplayable until a new patch is issued I guess this one will receive more attention the next week.

The large tower will probably behave like all imperial architecture in MGE distant land, by which I mean weirdly. Just write and load an override file and it'll show up in the distance fine.

Nah, I have to set the visible when distant limit dangerously low to get it. Even down at 150 some of the tower parts fade out. I suggest, before release, that we stitch some of these blocks together to form a big enough mesh. By the time we're done, most people will use MGE.

I was also thinking about creating a new mesh which would be visible from a long range (for MGE users). Although TR's goal is not to please MGE users.

I believe I have an override file which I can upload somewhere on the forums later for people to use. Basically you load it when generating distant statics, and then it tells the game to always render imperial meshes regardless of distances. Voila, instant distantly visible castles! :D

Using an override file is probably the best solution yeah.

I'm really interested in your file because I want to do the northern border before anything else in A2.

Can't edit my post, one thing I think would look better is the removal of the odd piece of land and rocks west of the city: http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t141/WhyAreWeFighting/OE.jpg?t=1287090252
