Please simply link your images, or perhaps put them on imageshack which, from what I understand, allows for thumbnailing images

Your drawings look good. Really promising.
Some concepts can use a bit more detailing though. Especially the armors look very sketchy and lack detail. I always say that it is at least as important (if not more) for concept art to express the style/design/atmosphere as it is to provide a shape to model with. Design is often in details.

I'd like to see you make some more Hammerfell concepts, see how you treat our 'hammerfell mood'. :)
I'd go through some other art threads to get a feel of it. It takes time, but the research is worth it I think.

I cant run oblivion, I found that out today when someone on the elder scrolls official forums told me the 40 doller graphics card i Bought to play it on was to old to play it, so im probably not going to make much more in the way of oblivion.

you can do concept art without ever setting foot in game. hammerfell has very little to do with cyrodiil, so most of your research and inspiration can be found either right here on the forums of on the internet :)

Dont let you hardware issues discourage you dude, you do good work!

Speaking of hardware issues, i pride myself on having a working knowledge of the 'nuts and bolts' of PC componentry. With this in mind i expect that the guy on the official forums was talking out of his rear, $40 for a second hand graphics card SHOULD result in something that is capable of powering oblivion. All the requirements state is that the card needs 128mb of on-board RAM and be compatable with Direct3D and have DirecX 9c compatable drivers. I have personaly SOLD a graphics card that was able to run Obliv at near-max settings for $20 and that was 18 months ago, so $40 should be more than enough to get a suficently powerful card. (All monetary values are in Australian $s)

1 I bought it new,
2 I tryed playing oblivion on it, on lowest setting, it runs fine no lag but no textures eather, all black and white.
3 It crashes whenever I get to the sewers, the guys in elder scrolls said all those are signs that it is underpowered.

my spec.
512ddr2 ram
3 gig cpu
140 gig hardrive
and my graphics card.
running vista, dang thing cost 600 dollers.

VISTA!! Well theres your problem! Vista is a Ram hog, and needs about a gig of ram just to run itself properly. Aside from that your description of your computer is remarkably like my own:

> AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (3gb equivilent, tho only runs at 1.8 )
> 1.3gb DDR 400 (as in pre DDR2 - which u have - get more)
> Gigabyte Nvidia 7600 GT PCIexpress Vidio Card (256 DDR3 onboard) - tho its PCIexpress and SLi capable it is still two years old and thus worthless.
> Asus A8V-E mobo
> Soundblaster Audigy DE (first edition)
> DVD & DVD Burner
> 40gb & 120gb Seagate 'Barracuda' hard drives

And the only piece of hardware i have thats less than two years old is my 22" widescreen LCD moniter (and probably worth more than the rest of my system put together).

I recomend that you update your vidio drivers. If it still doesn't work you might have to take your whole system to a profesional, because in Australia at least $600 should be more than enough to get a system capable of running oblivion, and at more than minimum settings at that...

Come to think of it... while i had my previous graphics card i actualy had a similar problem (the no texture thing). All it needed the was updated drivers, so the same trick SHOULD work for you...

Or the graphics card could indeed not be powerful enough. What kind of card do you use?

By the way, I really like those helmets you drew. Cool and fitting designs. :)

I tried to locate your card and found this:

http://www.diamondmm.com/S9250PCI256.php

I think this is your card, and this is the website of it's manufacturer. There are no drivers for Vista here, which might very well mean this card is too old to even have a driver compatible with vista. I'm not sure on this though, so I'll be corrected if I'm wrong.

A quick search with google ("ATI Drivers") turned up this as its number one result: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Of course, this may well be useless to you if you have an Intel CPU.

Going from the specs of the card listed in the link provided by Myzel a driver update SHOULD be sufficient. My old card was a contempory of this one (ATI card of similar age). Even if I'm a little off, going by the listed specs it is still "new" enough to be capable of running oblivion once the neccissary software has been updated.

your definining of contemporary is both superfluous and agrivating. Do not define words in your posts. If people don't know what something means they should look it up. Your use of the word itself seems superfluous, but I am not one to talk when it comes to unusual vocabulary choices.

read up on how to add UV maps to meshes in the Blender tutorials on their site, once you've added the UV map, just export the template and put textures on to it

every triangle requires memory for the game engine to render: and your closet had enough for a ps3 game. so you need to keep them at an absolute minimum. There is never any room for extra polys.

I took your closet and replicated it to be closer to morrowind standards to give you some help. I applied a uvw map to the left door as an example and it coincides with the texture that I included. Take a look at the model, and see If you can build something similar from the ground up.

I used the commands:
extrude
chamfer
bevel
weld
unwrap uvw map
and smooth

That's what you have a tablet for ;)

About the cuirass you're planning on meshing; Remember that this is going to have to fit in with the rest of the models in Morrowind so you're not going to need to model all the individual "plates" or segments of the cuirass - get the basic shape down (take a stock Morrowind cuirass and tweak it - then It's pre UV mapped too! :))) and let the texture do most of the work. I'll happily texture this cuirass if you go ahead and make it, that is unless you want to yourself.

Ill make it, but ive made it from scratch.
http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/9092/dresarmor.png
But its got massive #'s of tris, so I might just have to start over, also im done some ground work for uv mapping.

PS: my tablet broke :(

Edit: Ok here goes, this is pretty good, complete remake, I unwrapped UV's (you may want to re-unwrap) and included .obj format, & .3ds in it, take a look, and tell me what you think, ps: the texture has no texture applied, just wire frame unwrap, its in 3 layers, background is white, wire frame, and texture, also its in tga format. This is a very low poly armor, since I was not sure what Morrowind could handle. Also, I did not add the loin cloth or sash, I would like some feedback before moving forward. And the reason I didn't take a original game model and change it is because 1- I like originality, 2-I cant for the life of me get the bsa browser working.

Ps: do you use blender? if so I can just send you the .blend format, because the obj and 3ds sort of change it a bit.

Pss:Heres a shot of a texture I threw on it. http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/946/spreadsheet.png also in this shot I did a few model changes.

As no one has replied in a week or so, ill resume work.
http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/946/spreadsheet.png
This is some minor adds I have made, the arm holes, (Which need to be larger) and the loin cloth, plus the hip guards, the loin cloth needs more polys, but I dont want to get to high. It would be nice if somone would tell me what I need to work on.

PS: textures haven't been applied or even made yet, it would seem Nalin will not be doing those so I'll make them when its fully done.

The concept this is being made based on is called "Decorative Armour", it was Nalin that labelled it as Dres.

Is Nalin's Dres armor in TR Data? All I could find was the armor worn by the Dres in Port Telvannis, and I think Nalin's armor design is a lot more unique and sexy.
