I can load Oblivion fine. But after about 5 minutes of playing my monitor goes to "energy save" and turns black. As soon as this happens, my computer makes a load buzzing noise. After this i can still hear things in the game for about 3 seconds. Then my speakers die too. My computer then restarts.
Once I got a message about a corrupted installer but I have no idea what it means or how an installer could effect Oblivion, I wasn't actually installing anything.
Does anyone know what's happening or how to fix it?
Thanks,
Eissaye

sounds like your computer is doing an emergenccy shutdown to avoid a blue-screen error
try running the game in windowed mode. I have similar problems with Gamebyro/nif games and running in a window fixes 99% of my crashes. I actually haven't had this happen once since!

are you playing with mods? if so i highly recommend cleaning up your load order and uninstalling anything you dont need. 95% of my oblivion/morrowind errors come from modding - even weird stuff like this.
my favorite crash ever, btw, is when it turns of my monitor, then turns it back on at 800x600 resolution and 4 bit color

it's like a party in safe mode.
But seriously Eissaye removing mods is a good idea. Most importantly make sure that your video card drivers are ALL up to date.

Well, Runing it in windowed mode didn't help. So I got to thinking. What was different the first time it crashed than the other days? So I removed a mod I'd made which expanded my playing time to about 15 minutes before each crash.
Then I removed all my mods. Now I can play for anywhere from 20-30 minutes before it crashes. So i'm quicksaving a lot now.
I think it may be my video card thing. It always tells me that mine is outdated when I play team fortress 2. I just ignore it and the game runs fine. I'll look into it.
