Well, not all features that appeal to the masses are bad, but in morrowind's case, people got bored. And many people loved Oblivion, where as I got bored. I don't think TES V should copy the style of Morrowind, but I think it should take that idea and make it better, because it can be improved. Why have horses if you have fast travel, when the fun part should be the journey not the destination? Why do a quest that has an arrow showing you exactly where to go, exactly what to do, without investigating or reasoning out for yourself? I want TES V not to treat me like an idiot.
Monkey, I didn't know there was an Elder Scrolls Map that detailed... does TR follow all those names?
Needless arguement

That map is a fan-made work, so it's not an amazing source of information. Most of the settlement names sound much like Imperialised versions, we try to use more Dunmer-sounding names for settlements (Dragon Glade becoming Akamora, for example).

I'm not complaining to you. You just responded to my complaint about Oblivion, so I responded to your response.
Edit: There I cut you out
Also about that map Monkey. Why, unless you are creating something like a giant mod, would you ever make a "fan made map" that adds unofficial names to the world of Elder Scrolls? I mean, once another game comes out, it's going to contradict that map anyways... And I'm not using "you" as in specifically you monkey, but as in whoever made that map.

Night, wtf are you talking about? Some people enjoy cartography. (Arthmodeous in this case)
Also, normally there aren't too many changes on the map when a new game comes out.
Also, who cares? it is accurate in the mean time by and large.
Don't talk about things of which you have no understanding.

I have nothing against cartography, or people that enjoy it. In fact, I am one of those people who highly enjoy it. From my understanding with that map being "fan" made, gives me the impression that many of those cities are made up. If that's wrong, then I got the wrong impression and I apologize. If it's true, then I don't apologize, because they are just made up cities. I'm refering to those not supported by lore, or any other resource. With TR, you guys have a reason to create cities, because of this project. And if you are writing a novel or such, I can also understand adding to the world. But if Elder Scrolls releases a detailed map of all Tamriel tomorrow, showing every city that they want to add, it would highly contradict everything that you put "unofficially" on a map yourself. Why, because you didn't create the world, therefore ultimately you can't officially add to the world. It's like if TES V was set in hammerfell! And all the work you put into it is now replaced by what the creators of Elder Scrolls want to put there. Even if they do it out of spite, you still have no say in the matter. I am one of those people who have tried to create their own world, similar to elder scrolls or middle earth. Therefore I have nothing against those who are creative, but as you know, you guys are playing in a world that you did not officially create. Therefore, unless the creators change it, you guys can't officially add anything to lore. I'm not bashing on this project, I admire it, I'm just clearifying what I'm talking about, so that no one is confused. If you don't agree...that's your problem.

typically, a fan made map means that it was made by a fan based of bethesda info (in this context). that maps author, Arthmodeus, used various official sources to make the best map he could. is it perfect? no - things have since been added, and all maps have a margin of error. its still a good map though.
just clarifying.

I apologize I don't mean to be an ass. I just don't like being treated like an idiot when it's clearly miscommunication. Hence the reason why I didn't understand why someone would make up things on a map, UNLESS there is good reason, lore or other resources to back it up. I admite I don't know a lot about Elder Scrolls Lore, and I don't know a lot about how this forum works. I assumed that many places on the map were just grabbed out of the air, and I was wrong to do so.
