2009 in Review

Post by Lady Nerevar »

...another time line.

2009 has been a busy and eventful year for Tamriel Rebuilt. Stirk finally saw final release and the Hammerfell project was moved off-site. Morrowind also progressed by leaps and bounds, with many detailing claims and new exteriors seeing completion. The community recognized our continued efforts by awarding Antediluvian Secrets a spot in the Hall of Fame and by naming Tamriel Rebuilt the fourth-best single player mod. The release of TES2: Daggerfall and the Infernal City also made this a great year for Elder Scrolls fans in general.

I have no doubt that 2010 and beyond will be great years here at TR. Each month we complete more exteriors and interiors, write more quests, and merge more new models. The completion of Morrowind is getting closer and closer, and I cannot wait to see what the new year holds for the project.

From all of us at Tamriel Rebuilt, have a happy new year and a great new decade! Here's a list of highlights from the previous year:

Jan 20 - Exterior detailing claims for Map 3 open.

Feb 06 - Stirk 1.0 released.

Feb 14 - Stirk 1.1 update released.

Feb 25 - Stirk 1.2 update released.

Mar 08 - Map 9 .71 internally released, updates continue throughout the year.

Mar 29 - Antediluvian Secrets added to PlanetElderScrolls Hall of Fame.

Apr 05 - Adanorcil becomes new Head of Lore, replacing Sload.

Apr 19 - Bloodthirsty Crustacean becomes new Head of Quests, replacing theviking.

May 21 - TR gets a Twitter account, TamrielRebuilt.

Jul 07 - A new claims rule is put into place immediately, to tighten up on the "allowed time frame" a modder has to post an update. This new rule helped to increase progress.

Jul 09 - Bethesda releases TES2:Daggerfall as a 15th Anniversary present.

Jul 10 - It is decided that Telvannis and Antediluvian Secrets are to be merged into one file, named TR_Mainland. All future releases will be merged into this file before the release date.

Jul 22 - Myzel becomes new Head of Concept Art, replacing Gez. New alpha version of Map 5 internally released.

Jul 29 - Map 4 version .58 is internally released.

Aug 23 - A new Map 6 merge, .07, is internally released. It includes the final version of Narsis.

Oct 01 - Tamriel Rebuilt makes #4 in the UK PCGamer Top 50 singleplayer mods list

Oct 21 - New release scheme for Morrowind announced.

Nov 05 - Map 9 version .76 is internally released.

Dec 05 - Hammerfell project becomes its own team, separate from TR.

You know what's also popular? Enormous flying cities and ridable dragons. Maybe TR should invest in navigable ships and underwater cities.

There isn't any new site at the moment; Hammerfell has been simply moved off of TR and Lady Nerevar is keep on working on the mod by herself. Help is much appreciated, of course.

I don't know about your toenail, but I would like to know. Even just knowing if it will be released within the next few months?? Yes yes, none of you can say when it will be released. Oh well. But a question, is TR still going ahead with a MQ for each district? And are the deadric Prince quests still a go?

Major locations will be more likely to have a questline of some sort, but a main quest per district is pretty artificial, so that won't be happening. The term "main quest" implies that something *epic* on par with the Vvardenfell main quest has to happen in every district, which doesn't make for a very believable mainland anyway.

It's impossible to give an accurate prediction for releases because of the unreliable nature of this being a hobbyist project, people only contribute when they can find the free time to do it. A release within the next month or two seems fairly unlikely, but more improbable things have happened! =P

Although Daedra will surely feature in some quests at TR, I can't say for certain what the plans are for them, so you'll just have to wait and see (unless someone more informed about quests than me comes along).

Your project the most ambitious and perspective of all that I saw. To many people with impatience waits for it. I wish good luck in all your undertakings. Sorry for my English.
