Any Risk-fans out there?

Post by roerich »

Hey, I made a Morrowind version of the Risk board game. :)
Feel free to use and comment! It's based on the LOTR version of Risk, and I've made cards for it too. This version is a bit WIP, as I had to rush it through.

a lot of those region names are a bit out dated, but I love it.

Well we still don't have a new name for Reich Parkeep yet, but that is definitely changing.
Silgrad is Kogotel, Septim's gate pass is a little bit more south
Blacklight is now Baan Malur
Northern Coast is Uld Vraech
Karthor Dale is Kartur
Stonefalls is Andothren
Shargon Hills is now the Armun Ashlands.
Need to have some mention of the Thirr river in one of the regions that borders it.
Sheogorath should be Sheogorad
Velothi Mountains make up almost the entire western border of the province.
Not so sure if there is a mountain border between the indoril and the dres.

This is just what I can name off the top of my head.

Broken hills and especially shargon hills are the armun ashlands.

Awesome piece of work. I love risk! :)

Thanks, that's a lot of help! Will get editing right away.
And I know a lot of the mountains are incorrectly placed, but that was mainly for the strategic element.

Very nice work, roerich. And I didn't know that my italian Risiko is named Risk in other countries.

You know what's also popular? Enormous flying cities and ridable dragons. Maybe TR should invest in navigable ships and underwater cities.

Lady Nerevar: I used http://www.blockposters.com/ to print 6 A4 prints and glued them on a cardboard.

Thank you everyone :) I will certainly put more work into this.

I was unaware that so many people at TR enjoy Risk. I wonder if that says something about us as a group?

I hate Risk. Once got badly owned by a Frenchman. Good map though.

So, I'm redoing the whole thing now, making it look a lot better. I just need some help with some of the names; like what is the Dunmer name for Emerald Forest? I remember seeing it once.

Oh, and here's an early WIP shot. :)

EDIT: and another one:

Lan Orethan is the emerald forest I believe. Imageshack resized your images so it is a bit hard to make out the text and double check other names.

Those are cool, but may I suggest using another font there? It's kinda hard to figure out what the names say, while it should be clear when you first look at them I think.

Thanks, I'll try to get a higher resolution picture up soon. I'm looking for a perfect font, so the one I'm using now is just temporary. :)

EDIT: Just saw the Lan Orethan trailer on youtube. Wow. But, does anyone have an idea what to name the area previously named Lan Orethan on the original map? The area southeast of Almalexia.

great map, I love it :)

so, since there are quite a few risk-lovers here, maybe some of you would enjoy this site:

http://warlight.net/

it is basically a site for playing risk online with other people, often over ridiculous long amounts of time (weeks, months, years even), however, there is more to it:

The part I enjoy most on this site is the singleplayer-part. You don't have to make an account or anything, you can just choose one of the challenges and start playing right away, or you can just set up your own skirmish against AI-players.
It's a really great site, and best of all, it is not just the same old risk map and australia wins all the time, HELL NO!
There are a lot of different maps in there, for example different "resolutions" of the worldmap, with more or less regions waiting to be conquered, maps of only Europe or the United States, and even completely random crazy maps. Just check it out! :)

So yeah, having said this, I would love to see your map on the site, roerich. There is an option to submit user-created maps, but I don't know if you have to have an account for that and wahtnot. But if you are interested it would sure be great to have that map up there and maybe we could even start a multiplayer game on it with some of the folks here at TR. :)
