There is no map 1 main quest, only Zuul*.
*Zuul here meaning a planned overarching questline for great house telvanni. We have come to the conclusion that limiting large questlines to imaginary borders thought up by ancient TR members is a largely nonsensical idea that was flawed from the outset.

The just man frowns, but never sneers. We can understand anger, but not malevolence - Victor Hugo, Les Miserables
The abuse of greatness is when it disjoins remorse from power - Brutus, Julius Caesar

alright so just to clarify the only primarily "main quest" will be for the house of telvanni? i guess what im trying to say is will there be any other "main" ,like, quests? for example instead of helping the telvanni you could help house indoril through becoming the dominent faction for example... just for example lol.

There will be a large faction quest for every major faction, the Great Houses included, and completing these faction questlines will change the circumstances for those factions (not necessarily for the better, depending on choices).

You can only join one great house, just like in the original game.

You need to get yourself to Port Telvannis (either water walk, or take a river strider from Tel Ouada. There's a big blue globe structure on the south side of the city that looks like a scaled up version of the Sadrith Mora council house, ask in there.

Last I recall, you had the option of taking on the mainland House Telvanni quest from either the Telvanni or the Imperial side.
If that's still so, does that mean we'll be able to do the "opposing sides" of many of the future quests, even if we can't join another Great House (for example, if your character joins House Dres, then takes the Imperial side of the mainland Telvanni questline)?

That really depends on the nature of the quests and the participating factions.
