Historical Society.

Post by Nautilus »

I was wondering, there might be a faction dedicated to the historical preservation of history. Specifically, this could mean there could be people who have recreated various towns of past, like those of the Sixth House, and various other things. Of Course it would be rather dull to join, since basically alls you would go on is fact finding quests, though this might appeal to some.

I can picture it now, you travel to a reproduction of a House Dagoth Town, stop in at a store and buy some offical reproduction armor. Might be a big cash flow for small little villages.

I'd rather slit my arteries before joining such a group, but isn't that kind of the dustbin department of the archaeologists someone mentioned? Could be nice to have them around doing the examination of things you brought them and telling you what they're really worth.

Doing research for them could lead to some interesting places, but being a member of them is rather ... dull, unless they ask you to bring them some cliffracer plumes for a new brush. One more reason to shoot those suckers out of the sky.

Thats why I propose it as an unjoinable faction. I'm sure there is some group interested in this type of thing.

THe faction could be found in universities where in order to graduate you have to take 17 classes in this field :D

Seriously though, it IS a good idea, and it is something you would find in academic places (i.e. universities).

Yes, that's a good idea. A university were you pay a big amount of gold every now and then for training. There could also be a great library with all un-banned books.

Ooh, Im tryin to cut out a nitch for myself as a book/playwrite in this world we call tamriel, I havent decided on my pen name but I will be writing in the viewpoint of a darkelf who has been all around the continent, I have 2 completely finished works(about 20 pages worth in a doc file each) and lots of works I have just begun. i try to remain as accurate to lore as possible by researching all aspects, but dont always write about "historical stories"

basically Im replyin to see if anyone involved in this university idea or any one who would like some well written books to use for more detail and uniqueness, then Im the man

faction

Last night I had a thought about a faction that would be involved in city planning, basically you'd do quests to clean out certain areas from danger, decide on a house template, and stuff like that, and it would add some pretty cool interaction between the player and the physical requirement. And basically once you choose much like the stronghold in the original it will begin building (different architectural style I think though) and you will actually see it change in stages of building, like the framework will be one mesh that will occur shortly after you choose on a design, then yada yada. and the triggers would involve being outta the cell and a certain time elapsing basically.

My thought on it is, it will add a sort of dynamic element to the game, that cities DO change, personally I think this would work best for a big city cell, if anyone knows anyone who has a claim on such a place, "holler" back to me

I like the idea of this university. For some text books it might include maps of the battles of Red Mountain, stuff like that. I'd still like the idea of a guild, I guess you could call them reenacters, living out the daily life of a member of the sixth house, These people might even be trying to reenstate the Sixth House as a Great House.
