TDF's Showcase (Now with Quests)

Post by Terrifying Daedric Foe »

Hi TR modders!

I've been lurking around on the forums for a while now, but I've finally decided to apply for a Promotion to Modding. I've attached my interior showcase, which I've cleaned with TES AME. I hope it works!

Hello TDF,

I took a look at your showcase, here's a few things I found:

de_p_chest_02_fclothes3 floats
com_sack_02 floats
light_de_candle_04 floats

There may be more, so I would advise going through all your items in the CS to check for bleedage and floatage.

Besides that your house looks quite nice.

Good luck.

Thanks for your review Immortal Pigs.

I can't believe the chest and sack got through quality control. I probably moved them without realising.

Anyway, I've fixed the things you mentioned and made a few more minor fixes.

I hope this next version is good enough.

EDIT: Quick question, where do I extract all the files in TR Data.7z to? I've got software to extract it, I just don't know where I should put it. Thanks

I've had a quick look. First of all there's still a bunch of stuff that needs to be rotated. Everything that has been rotated is fine and very well done, but you seem to have missed some stuff like the cutlery and crokery on the table downstairs. Secondly your stairs seem to have been moved a tiny bit. Easily fixed. Finally the whole thing needs a bit more clutter. The crate bit at the bottom could be made a bit more substantial, the shelves need more clutter and there are a lot of bare areas like the corridor on the ground floor. When in doubt, clutter.

Alright! First off, let me say that You know how to make an interior well cluttered. It looks as if someone might actually live in this interior. You did a good job with your light settings, and your tileset work is sound. Good job on each of these things. Now I will give this a full review just as if I were reviewing a file submitted by one of TR's interior modders.

TESAME: Clean

Fits Exterior: Yes

Northmarker Set: Yes
Loading Errors: No

Review:
misc_de_goblet_08 floats
bk_BiographyBarenziah1 floats
chest_small_01_50 this chest is rotated with its lock facing the wall. I don't imagine many people would place a chest where they have to turn it around to reach it's lock.
chest_small_01_ingredie bleeds into the shelf
com_sack_01 and the other variations of it need to be bled into each other just a bit to appear natural. Now if you look at the stack it appears to defy gravity by standing the way it does.
com_sack_02 needs to be bled to look natural
Both com_sack_02_chpfood3's need to be bled
com_sack_gold_05 You bled this one a bit, but it needs to be just a bit more to look natural.
common_glove_left_01 floats badly
common_pants_01 floats
common_robe_02 floats
common_shirt_01 floats
crate_01 is bleeding badly into the floor
furn_de_ex_bench_01 I don't imagine exterior furniture should find itself indoors too often, the ex in the tag means it is meant for exterior use.
Misc_Com_Redware_Cup floats
misc_com_redware_plate floats
misc_de_pitcher_01 floats
misc_uni_pillow_01 needs to be bled
tr_misc_stn_bowl_02 bleeds
tr_misc_stn_jug floats slightly

Comments: I'm unsure on the use of tr stoneware in a de interior. This may be style mixing, but I'm not sure someone will have to fill us both in on that. You need to work on matching your items to their surfaces. This is a tough task on de_p, but that is why we ask that you use that set when making a showcase. You rotated many of your objects well, and with a little more practice I have confidence you will be able to match most items properly. Most of the furniture you used (as well as the rugs) are on perfect angles, (90, 180, 270, etc.) this won't happen too often in the real world so it would be good if you would vary the angle of your furniture slightly in the future. All in all this is a pretty good interior. This being your third attempt though, you will need to start over and create a new interior. I have confidence that this time you will be able to pass review and become an interior modder for TR.

P.S. watch out for the clothing meshes, if you look at them from the back you will notice that they are floating, while looking at them from the front would lead you to believe that they are not. Make sure to check all of the items you place 360 degrees as they can appear different from different views. Good luck with your next interior, I'm sure it will be a good one.
And that's how you get to Llama School.

I've never seen stoneware in a com interior, it's perfectly fine in a de interior.

Also, I shall try to review this later or something, I will edit this post then.

K Daedric Foe, I had a "rather quick look".

Here's general errors I found:

-furn_de_p_chair_01 is bleeding into the floor (x2)
-crate_01 is bleeding into the floor
-urn_01_food is bleeding into the floor
-sc_paper plain needs to be 'f'ed
-active_de_p_bed_04 is floating
-chest_small_01_gold_25 better be locked, doesn't have to though

Also. First off, you need to tick the "illegal to sleep here" box in houses. Also, you might want to set the density to 0.75 here. Ambient light settings are a bit high for my tastes but I guess it is fine.
Now I should move on to the more important stuff: That is rotation on de_p furniture. I saw that SamirA considered your rotation quite good according to your last file. I did not look at your other file, but I'm sorry to say that for me you have to practice your rotation a bit, still.

That said, a good method to make sure an object is resting properly on this uneven furniture is the bounding-box of your objects. You can see that your object is properly resting if it has dotted lines all around; While this can be very helpful (and you should totally try to have dotted lines around most of your objects), this does not suffice in some cases. Also have a close look at the actual bottom of the object and make sure it looks natural. The key point here is patience. Do not rush making your interior, take your time and look at things.
Some of your objects on the furniture should be 'f'ed one more time. Always check if your object actually sits on a point after rotating it.

Good luck, I'm sure your next file will be good!

Hi TDF,

I was wondering how I'd be able to tell you you'd have to restart and make a new interior because this is your 3rd try, but I looked at your first interior and you've made some drastic changes so you're entitled to have another shot at correcting these small errors below.

Everything else in your interior (lighting, NM, stlyemixing) is great - the only thing I would ask is why is there a new TR vase among the regular urns. But I don't think that's a problem?

There are some small floating problems, but that's all

According to the lines, there are no times perfectly placed on the table. But, some of the items seem to be sitting properly, and that should be what we're looking for. The ones you need to fix are:
-The fork (closest to the bookcase) is floating at the end with the...stabby bits.
-The bowl (closest to the bookcase) needs to be rotated down on the left.
-The hilt of the knife (furthest from the bookcase) should be tilted down.

Meanwhile, the bookcase is 50/50. Pretty well done, just a few errors:
-I can actually see one of the Redoran pots (Misc_DE_pot_redware_03) floating on the right side. Same with misc_de_pot_redware_02.
-3/4 of the goblets are sinking. You can fix this by raising their Z- values by .1
-The small chest at the top isn't placed as well as it could be.

Right, well, apart from that, everything else is okay! I would be very amused to hear how people would pick some of these errors up in game, but rules are rules. You're really close on this one, so once you post an update someone else will come along to confirm if you need to start again or not. Good luck though - I know you can fix up this stuff. =)

Thank you so very much."

Thanks for the speedy review MSam.

I used the vase for a bit of variety and to add something non-vanilla to my house.

I think I've fixed everything you commented on. I hope this next file is good enough for promotion!

-style mixing: com_chest_01
-misc_uni_pillow_01 is floating

This is actually pretty good now. I still saw some slight rotation errors on the table, and that could also have been cluttered some more, but all in all you should be good enough to pass the showcase.

You shall be recommended with extra long text so that Thrignar really looks at this

Good luck!

I've made a quest showcase. It's not completely perfect - one of the scripts has an error I don't know how to fix, but I think it's good enough to post.

Enjoy!

Edit: I forgot to clean it, it's clean now (there was only two NPCs and a response to remove).

edit: I can't quite find which script wasn't supposed to work, which one was it?

This bit of code in TR_m0_q_001_vendillscript always gave me an error message in game.

Code: Select all

If ( GetDeadCount "TR_m0_q_001_vendill" > 0 )
	if (GetDeadCount "TR_m0_q_001_ra'zhirr" > 0)
		if (Journal "TR_m0_Balmora_Favor" < 110)
			Journal "TR_m0_Balmora_Favor" 110
			Return
		endif
	endif

I think,

instead of if (Journal "TR_m0_Balmora_Favor" < 110) you have to use getjournalindex. Journal sets the entry, which is not what you want to do here.

Edit: It would probably look like this then:

Code: Select all

If ( GetDeadCount "TR_m0_q_001_vendill" > 0 )
   if ( GetDeadCount "TR_m0_q_001_ra'zhirr" > 0 )
      if ( GetJournalIndex "TR_m0_Balmora_Favor" < 110 )
         Journal "TR_m0_Balmora_Favor" 110
         Return
      endif
   endif
endif
Bear with me if that's also wrong, been a while since I've last written a script.

This is good stuff. While it all is a bit simple, you clearly have a solid basis for questing down. There are a few minor things I want you to address before I promote you:

When the Wood Elf tells you to bring his friend's killer to justice, justice isn't hyperlinked in his sentence. Change the journal stage requirements for the justice entry so that it is available once you bring him to the corpse, so that it shows up immediately.
Add interpunction to your choice options.
Give the nearby miners the option to tell you they saw a Khajiit run off into the direction of the tomb, since them just standing there makes them prime suspects, and now they're a dead end.
Clean the "Pardon me, but there's a very strange man..." entry in Greeting 5, I think you missed that one.

That's all, really. Good job, very much looking forward to your next file.
