A little early, considering some of the things on the list. I added a comma at the end of the last sentence because, you know, grammar. And also, do we want House Indoril to be joinable in the first release of Almalexia?

I think I agree with Why that if such a feature alone delays our release date, we should wait until the first update to include that feature.

I was not thinking we wanted a joinable house yet. I just wanted the underlying framework to be there or at least considered well enough for future quests.

I personally wouldn't want to see House Indoril as joinable till we have Heartlands out. I know that would suck, but at the very least, we'd actually have a substantial amount of quests for the player to do, and they could actually do a lot in the House, instead of just join House Indoril in the Alma release and have next to nothing to do save for a few minor quests here and there which overall don't really have a huge impact on the actual story line.Thrignar Fraxix wrote:I was not thinking we wanted a joinable house yet. On the other hand, I suppose we could also make it joinable and come up with some quests for the 1.1 release, (or as it should be called, 4.1) but again, it would still only be a handful of quests and imo not really worth it.
I'd also like to add that I wouldn't want Indoril joinable in the initial release, for the same reasons mentioned above.

I'll have another int batch up tomorrow along with a new map or two in the one cell only style.
EDIT: By up, I mean in N/A just in case we have issues with any ideas. Most of this next batch has been discussed already.

Is there a specific reason you chose Heartland? It's my understanding that Great House Indoril holdings are in Almalexia and Sacred East, and there won't be much cause for quest-related venturing outside of those two areas. The vast majority of Indoril quests would take place within Indoril lands, would they not?Not wrote:I personally wouldn't want to see House Indoril as joinable till we have Heartlands out. I too am against setting any goals that involve House Indoril quests, unless we are deliberately making a too-long list of goals in the knowledge that we will only achieve some of them (I know there are people for whom this strategy works). Through all my time on #tamriel I don't recall hearing even one Indoril quest idea, so we'll have to work from a completely empty sheet here, and this is going to take resources away from Almalexia questing (which, alas, also hasn't gone very far, even in design). Of course, it is possible that we will have come up with a couple quest ideas by the time of release, but that doesn't mean we should implement them in the 1.0 (yes, Notling, 4.0 would be better indeed). They might become a thorn in our side later when we are designing the rest of the questline (like the Temple questline in Ranyon-Ruhn, which is nice per se, but noone seems to have an idea how to give it a reasonable closure).
Faction questlines should be done when enough good ideas and a good overarching design are present; there is no urgency.
Incidentally, am I being too lazy if I say that I need some kind of Who's-Who-and-Where's-What guide to Almalexia before I can come up with reasonable quest ideas? I assume I could get a good impression of the town by reading through the threads and loading the claims, but if there is a faster way to get the relevant info, I'd very much prefer it. At this moment, there are only two quests I have in mind for Almalexia. One is the one I brought up on #tamriel long ago, in which a noble asks (pays) you to sneak into another noble's mansion to stamp a forged letter with the latter noble's seal. Another is from not mine but actually a quest suggestion from 2005 to which I would make some minor modifications. We might want to open a FCG (FQG?) for questing Almalexia, but I guess a good start would be to have an accessible overview over the city.

Not at all. We already have something of this kind but we do need one for each release, which covers locations, factions, etc.arvisrend wrote: Incidentally, am I being too lazy if I say that I need some kind of Who's-Who-and-Where's-What guide to Almalexia before I can come up with reasonable quest ideas?

holding back interior claims because others need to be finished may keep the focus on the available ones, but people tend not to do things they don't want to do. If there are new almalexia ints to put up then they should go up. Greater options inspire action and maybe someone will finish one and decide to do one of the other claims.

I agree, we should have all our claims up as soon as possible rather than available in chunks.

I'll put some more up then, but that doesn't help the ones which aren't being done. I'll put up the other few that have been discussed tomorrow as I am free all day and then I will start discussion for the next set and finish making the maps for the single cell style to get the ball rolling.
I am of the same mind as Why, but it can't hurt to have more options and at least get something being done I agree.

Just a note, while no new ints went up today I did make the majority of the remaining local maps. I am having an issue with imgur loading so I can't see where I left off to put up new ints. I'm going to try and sort it out tomorrow and get something up.

Boom, we seem to get a ton of interior modders these days, do we have any plans for getting them to settle in properly? Clean sheets, enough beverages??
I try keeping in frequent contact when I, once every decennium, get a new ext modder - at least during the early stages of their stay here. Getting people on irc and not weirding them out in a bad way is also good, amirite? Are all alma claims coming up? When? Is this another question mark?

Actually, I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and I've been wondering how to get the interior department back on track.
Nemon, I really like your idea about talking to the modders and getting to know them, as well as encouraging them to go on IRC. So with all the showcases passing review and being promoted, I think I'll start trying that, see if it works. Try to get others into IRC more.

Suggesting it during the showcase process isn't bad, either. I know being on IRC with a modder more experienced than I has definitely helped me learn faster. Perhaps a post about it in the showcase forum would help bring attention to it for aspiring modders? I'm not sure everyone notices the "TR Chat" button up top.
In the next few weeks, I should be getting more of the Alma claims up. Notling and I have been working on getting everything in order, so hopefully a boom in choices will help the modders be more creative.
I'll sit down with it on my days off next week, since I'm out of town in the next few days,

People complained about their usage and wanted something else to fill them. I asked for suggestions each time I posted a new batch of ints but nobody ever gave me any so they have remained in N/A.Nemon wrote:SamirA detailed three alma ints and wrote "unlocked for claiming" back in December. No; we're holding off on it for the present.

Aeven, how many more Interior Claims do we have left to create for Almalexia?
Regarding A3 and A6, we can do that when we release Almalexia, since A6 is Almalexia, and at this rate it's planned to be its own release, right?
