Infragris' Showcase

Post by Infragris »

Greetings,

I have been following the Tamriel Rebuilt project for some time now and have finally decided to start contributing. This interior showcase consists of a small Hlaalu house with de_furniture. coc showcase to find it.

Hello and welcome to TR, Infragris! :)

While I'm not a reviewer, I took a look at your interior and I must say it looks pretty impressive. The file is clean, the interior lighting/ambient settings are OK and there's even a north marker. A nice home for a retired battlemage or something like that.

Some nitpicking / things i found:

Code: Select all

* "chest_small_01_gold_25" on the bedroom bookshelf is part bleeding (in the middle), part floating (in the edges). it's resting on a tricky spot, and i'd change its place on the shelf altogether.

* "urn_01_food" at the top of the stairs is bleeding to the wall, not that anyone without a microscope would ever notice

* "misc_com_broom_01" should rest against the wall

* "misc_com_bottle_11" on the bedroom bookshelf (the rightmost) is bleeding a little. rotating it a bit on the Y axis will do the trick.

* i like what you did with the two "misc_de_bowl_orange_green_01" on the wardrobe, but i'm not sure if they'd stay in balance like that. a matter of opinion, i suppose, and of course Morrowind physics aren't the most realistic.

* i also like the "wooden staff" on the hook, but i'd personally like to see it hanging more in a straight line towards the ground(apply some Z rotation) to look more natural.

* OMGZ! there's a random "amulet of rest" levitating outside the building :O
Mostly though, you've built this interior like a boss. Maybe address the things I pointed out and post an update. Or wait for a real review and then do it. Either way, I'm positive you'll get promoted soon :)

Thank you very much! I agree about the staff, but you can't really hang it straight without clipping into those Hlaalu wall rails near the ground. I fixed the rest of your suggestions, but I think I'll wait for further criticism before posting the new file.

I agree with Rats, this is a pretty niffy showcase but those things he mentioned should be sorted out. Good thing you didn't upload another file just yet, though, since I have a few remarks of my own as well. I will not be going over the things Rats mentioned again, I'll just say what I found so we can all go on about our business.

- the tapestries are bleeding into the beams with their knots
- the chest of drawers in the basement is bleeding into the wall
- a lot of things on the shelves need to be rotated precisely (for example, p_feather_q on the bottom shelf needs to be rotated on the Y axis by precisely 1.1 degrees, the p_cure_poison_s next to it by -0.9 on the same axis, after which both should be raised by a few .01 point), and the mortar and pestle should definitely be sunk into the shelf (because a mortar with a pointy bottom would just be useless). You should also try to find a better place for the small chest
- as for the rest of the bowls, I'm not quite sure. I've been sinking them for quite a while now and I wouldn't know what else to do with them. In any case, the ceramic bowls on top of the closet should be sunk, the white one on the floor can stay like that for all I care
- if I am not mistaken, the consensus on limeware is that it should be used sparingly and only in richer surroundings

That would be pretty much everything for now. Fix the things Rats and I mentioned and someone will review it again. A little room for improvement, but otherwise this is decent work.

[definitely make the staff hang from the hook more naturally]

All right, I think I've dealt with those issues. Staff is fixed. Thank you for the advice, and feel free to give any kind of criticism.

Looks better but I do believe you should make some fine adjustments to object rotation in your claim, just to make sure everything really fits perfectly in place (also it's better to hone your rotating skills now than later when you get promoted). It's late and I'm tired, but I promise I'll give a more detailed review tomorrow. I wanted to say something else about bowls (or was it just one bowl?) but that was days ago and I simply didn't have the time to type a review. I apologize.

On second thought, this is pretty much as good as it gets. Sink the misc_de_bowl_glass_yellow downstairs a bit further into the drawer, maybe find a better place for the chest because it's still a bit floating, and perhaps you could play around with the rotation of some objects a bit (the p_disease_resistance_c on the bottom shelf) and you're good for a promotion.

Done and done. I've fiddled about with the chest, but I don't think I'll get it any better.

I hope Infragris didn't forget us, as we forgot him :)

I'd say that now almost everything is right.

> com_sack_02 containers are sunken too much
> common_pants_03 are floating!
> we usually refrain from using invisible light sources like "green light_128" in small cells like this

But generally the interior looks very nice, a little bit messy, but that's fine IMO.

I think you should get promoted as soon as possible, as you have proven your skills and patience.

Could you please confirm, that you're still around here?

Thank you very much, everyone! I completely understand the problems with the end of the semester-crunch. As a matter of fact, I'm rather busy with my own studies. My schedule should clear up within a week or so, though, and then I'll give my attention to TR.
