http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1460471-subo-lathla-skyport: this thread, basically. (note: I go by keramac on the official forums). Apparently there were once plans for "skyports" used by Sloadships. Is there any chance something like this could still be used in the Dres lands? It could serve as a kind of trade hub for the Dres and the Sload, or something like that (the Sload and their ships don't even have to show up, if those resources are too much trouble). It is perhaps a bit too late/too far from the vanilla game to reintroduce the Sload, but this kind of skyport could still be useful for, say, the Sky renders, or even Netch breeding.
I've made a proof-of-concept mod to show how I believe the whole thing could turn out:

Pretty cool looking structure and it doesn't bother me at all that it looks structurally unsound (it's Morrowind, maybe they build those things over solidified ebony geysers, making them tough enough to withstand that terrible moment arm); I can't speak for whether something like this would fit with TR's core vision, but I personally like it, since the Dres are said to get slaves from the Dres, using airships. And what other mode of transport are they likely to use to get over there from Thras?
With THAT said though. It might make more sense for the Dunmer to recycle a Silt Strider port for this purpose. Merchants are economical after all.

Arktwend has its share of these and I can't really say I liked them... shouldn't they use Dres rather than Velothi architecture? If you're speaking of the idea itself, I'd still expect something with more ground support. I mean, not even Telvanni have their architecture floating that much... (IANAL I am not a lorehead)
Wow, that's crazy; I've never seen the concepts for that:

Just to clarify: my design is part work in progress, part proof of concept, 100% nonsense: I know that the style is quite different from TR norms and I don't expect it to be included in this form in TR at all. I simply made it because the artwork only shows a part of the place and I wanted to flesh it out a little.
The interesting thing here is an idea and some artwork from the devs that I hadn't seen referenced anywhere else before, and that I think most people don't know about. At the very least, it would be interesting material for when it is time to flesh out the Dres as a faction: a building or tower called a "skyport" could be a sight unique to the Deshaan coast, or simply mentioned in dialogue as a thing of the past. It could serve as a dungeon, similar to the Velothi towers, perhaps. Trade between Dres and the Sload should be referenced somewhere, I think.
EDIT: undead sea-creature fits the picture pretty well, I'd say.

I would be in favor of us doing something with that concept art. Morrowind can never have too many bizarre alien features and anything that was part of Beth's original vision should be taken into consideration.
Besides airships, perhaps these places can be where the Dres land their Skyrenders?
