Make it more noticeable when you get PMs

This is more a site maintenance issue, but is there a way to make it a little more noticeable when you get sent private messages. I've had a few for months now and hadn't noticed it said "You have X new messages" at the top of the site.
<insert witty signature here. i might spend time trying to come up with something, but its not like anybody reads these anyway>

Yeah, there is a "Notify on new Private Message:" option in the your Profile settings.
