Just started playing Morrowind again and just got TR, but when and where should I hop over to the mainland? Just water walk over and aim at any part of the coast? Or is there a port or town that makes for a nice starting off point?
I completed the base game and Bloodmoon ages ago but never did Tribunal. Would it make sense to finish that first, or would that leave me overpowered for the TR content?

Yes, we still have to connect the mainland ports with Vvardenfell.
Also keep in mind that only the Eastern parts of the map are largely done yet.
I'd suggest to start out in the South-Eastern most part, where that small island is located once you're level 5+ and wait with playing Tribunal until we're done with [url=http://youtu.be/WFM7RoPn-Fo]our version of Almalexia[/url].
The easiest way to get there would be to use: coc "Seitur" in the console, if you can live with a little immersion breaker
