border crossing
once we have multiple adjacent provinces, how will we handle the crossing of the boarders. It's not like you could just walk throu cus the provinces are independant governments, and thay would always have some kind of boarder gaurd, or in medieval times, a boarder fort. Has anyone tried to tackle this issue yet, but we really should get to it. I have an interesting idea, and that is that you stop by a border fort (there would be several) and there, they check your inventory to make sure your not smuggling dwarven goods or anything. Then the give you a visa (basically a journal update) and then people in that province could trade with you. This would also open up opertunities for smuggling. Or is this practical, or just plain stupid.

I dont think the border could possibly be completely monitored by the empire, there will probably be crossing areas, like dunmeth pass, but in flat areas such as the transition between oh.. how bout cyrodil and yada yada, where it is completely open land, we could possibly drop border stations everywhere, in those cases, thered prolly be some on major roads...

i agree with assisstance, sort of. in a dance in fire, scotti had to get permission from the head cheese of vardinfell to get back to cyrodil (with the contracts). but he also crossd into vardenfell easily. i think the only boarder patrols are along main roads to monitor huge caravans and stuff. this would explain why so many smuglers are found off-trail. which brings me to a question. near the bigger citys, are the roads bigger? you know like not little trails. id like to see some wider main roads for caravans.
