The Return of Jiub

Post by UselessSlacker »

Hey all, im new here...i was entirely intrigued with this mod as soon as i found it, and I finally registered. My Morrowidn is all screwed up, (and so is my computer) so i can't do anything with Morrowind, but i can give ideas and such (only if you want me too...)

Anyways, i was thinking, (forgive me if it has already been asked), but why not add a side quest with Jiub in it?...just a small one, but it would give this mod, the "true story" of what happened to Jiub after he got taken away.

I said I would return and I may have been right. The past must stay in the past as agreed. If the core needs me or has a job for me just ask for now I watch and write.

Hmm what about making the Half-breed/Outlander Dunmer for the Mainquest tie-in Juib, he was probably alot like a PC Dunmer. I just got that idea when thinking about this.

im just full of information...
anywho, i had 2 ideas...

Idea 1:

You meet up with Jiub in one of the major cities (Old Ebonheart, Cyrdoiil, etc.), and you find him working slave labor (or some meaningless job like that), and you try and free him.

Idea 2:

As you are searching the coastline of (blah), you find an abondoned ship, and a few crazed shipmates. You kill them, and you find a severly injured Jiub in the holding cell, and you job is to escort Jiub to the nearest city to their Healer.

Hmm....
Don't you know that there are many mods concerning Jiub?
Black Queen Chronicles for one, so by adding Jiub we would break that quest.

No not really, because our NPCs would still be seperate from their, just that he would have the same name. When it concerns things like this we shouldn't worry about other mods. Just because someone else made the Imperial City doesnt mean we shouldn't for an example.

Juib could be very useful, both because he is likely a outlander dunmer and many people are intrigued and curious about what happened to him. That can be something very useful when making quests, especially being about to hook the player.

He isnt, but he is some1 people want to see in the game so we can ad him, its not againsed lore and we souldent worry about TR messing qith other mods because so many other mods mess with each other it wont really make a difference if we let ours do so or not.

I like the first idea more but the second one is ok.

I wasn't here for ST, although I remember looking at the project at those times I didn't keep any tabs on it really. Oh and yea technically this is the wrong forum to talk about Juib, but I did because someone else brought it up, the mods move it not I.

I don't see what the big deal is. He's probably on that ship for a bit for a sentence for his crimes to work. Not to go off topic, but if you remember, he said "...I heard them say we've reached Morrowind..." They would have gotten to the morrowind mainland coast already, they would have been in Morrowind all along. Maybe they took you up to the Skyrim coast and you sailed around to the inner sea and seyda need, even though it's much longer and stupid.

He also says "I am sure they will let us go" so he was getting off atleast in Morrowind for sure, probably at a different Censur Office, like maybe Firewatch, if they released him then he has probably already gotten aways from there by now I would guess, unless of course he got into more trouble.

With Juib, we could probably place him in just about any situation and it would make sense, although, I think that we should use him, if just to hook people into doing something or going somwhere to lead into something.

Well atleast we can promise that however we deal with Juib it will be as lore friendly as possible. One thing I always thought he was a outland dark elf, I don't think he grew up in Morrowind, so he probably sypathizes with the PC, especially if your a Dunmer.

LOL!!!! Or if u are really serious (but i doubt it) hmmmmmmmmmmm. I think the most obvious thing to do would be to rescue his from jail, seems fitting seeing as they were takeing him somewere and he never was let free with us.

Maybe jiub was a blade with the task to protect you or something. Then it would be fun tho come somewhere in morrowind were the blades morrowind headquarters are and that you can get missions from him.

I think with all NPCs from all ES games that we should include a few, for continuity's sake.

But if we write them too large a role, it may conflict with future Bethesda Releases.

E.g. Jiub may become leader of the blades is ESIV or a future MW expansion, while being a low ranking member of the thieves guild in TR.

I think Blad is correct here....Jiub quite possibly could be the initial incarnation of Azura that you see in the beginning because you do see her at the end...seems like a recurring theme through the ES games...a stranger helping out....

Perphaps it isnt just coincidence

The idea of a man slave being a legendary goddess is just unthinkable. I have no idea what the purpose of this would be. If anything, he could be a Blades member like said previously. Otherwise, i doubt that many people will remember the person who asked you your name. Although it was a wide-varied idea.Perhaps he could be one of Azura's servants. Or, the whole ida could be left back at finding an abandoned ship with Jiub in it.

No more unthinkable than a redguard merchant being the avatar of Stendarr.

Huh?

I was reading a thread earlier on the officials about would people like to see characters from Morrowind make cameos in Oblivion, the poll had Caius Cossades winning and Jiub in second, Fargoth last. It was quite interesting that a lot of the people posting had gotten more attached to Jiub than to Caius, or many of the more major characters. Probably because he's about the only friendly character you meet initially.

I don't see the purpose of attaching unnecesscary significance to Jiub. He was a prisoner you had never met before, and shared a cell in the prisoner ship to Seyda Neen. He seemed mildly concearned for your well-being for two reasons:
1. People in similar (bad) situations often develop sympathy for each other. Jiub felt compassion for a fellow prisoner, as well as a sense of hope for being released.
2. It was an easy way to introduce the name generator.
Since you do not encounter Jiub in Seyda Neen (or anywhere else in Morrowind), it is safe to say that he was taken to somewhere on mainland Morrowind, or that he vanished shortly after being released. I think it would be cool to have his skeleton in a cave somewhere, with a letter recording his last words.
But come on, Jiub isn't Azura. He doesn't help you enough. All he does is ask you your name, and tell you to shut up when the guard comes.
On another note, who is the avatar of Stendarr? The smith in the Balmora Fighters Guild?
"Hail Dexter."

No, one one of the Imperial Cult quests you rescue a redguard merchant who seems a bit too wise for himself, who also gives you the 'gloves of Stendarr'... If you ask a priest about him, the priest mentions that it was almost definitely an avatar of Stendarr himself.

Having Jiub in a cameo would be fun and nice. To settle his fate per-say, for us...
