Hard-wired "Better Faces"

Hey are we gonna hard code "Better Faces" type of models for PC and NPC? They look so nice.

I think it would be nice to have a bigger selection of faces and heads too.

I remember a while back when "Better Bodies" came out, and the Better Bodies crew wanted Tamriel Rebuilt to use the bodies, but because of all the errors (so many incompatibility issues with almost every set of armor/clothing) they decided not to use it until the Better Bodies fixed everything.

However, I think it would be a crime to use anything other than the Better Faces/Rhedd's head for TR. I can't play Morrowind without those heads. And if they're not hard-coded in, there will probably be a mod to replace NPC heads with the Better Heads eventually.

If you play the current map merges, you'll find some face replacements are already in effect, I believe.

Yes the redd's were good. Better bodies is killer too though. I just think that we ought to have something to replace bethedsa's rushed faces and bodies. They had store shelves to fill...we don't. Let's take our time and get this one right.

BTW, "better heads" replaces ALL heads, no matter the location or ID of the NPC... not that we shouldnt make any of our own.
And when I make the suthay (if I do), i'll be using textures with twice the detail of the original ones.

I expect that Better Bodies, Smoother Bodies, Better Heads, Rhedds Heads, Beastly Creatures, as well as the various childrens' mods will remain plugins or Bolt-ons simply because each of them changes the original game. That is one tenet that we've agreed will remain. But nothing says that we can't recommend this or that plugin.

Even though I am pretty sure that the game will be released with a head replacer, I think it should be an optional add-on. Different people have different likes and dislikes, and who is to say that people will dislike our face replacer in favor of Better Heads, or NPC Replacer 3.5, or an Astarsis (sp?) replacer? There is no doubt in my mind that we should have a head replacer of our own, but it should be separate and optional.
Also, I think a body replacer is not necesscary at this time. In my opinion, there are no body replacers out there that are good enough for this project. I don't like Better Bodies due to the absolutely hideous clipping issues and the way the hands are modeled. And smoother bodies doesn't do it for me either, I don't see enough of a difference to make it worth running. I think we should wait, and see if a decent body replacer comes out.

I actually do not like most of the heads in Better Heads. I think it should be a bolt-on.

well, when i had rhedd heads and better bodies, i thought the heads were too small for better bodies bodies.

Anyways, I never could use Better Bodies because I couldn't get over all of the issues like clipping and scaling problems, but I would love to see it implemented in the future if they can fix everything.

whatever we do, we should make our own type of NPC body thing...as in make some scripts to replace the regular body with a different one, so say...If you use Rhedd's heads, then it switches to smoother bodies, but if you use better heads, it switches to better bodies. if you don't use either, then it stays the same. I still think we should make a bunch more heads and hairs for the normal bodies. many people(myself included) don't use other people's mods, or don't like to drastically change things like that, so they'd get a bunch more nifty detailing options for their PC.
