A houses to buy!
Have you ever played Indestructible`s Bank Mod?
There is a cool feature in this mod - a houses to buy!
We could do this in TR as a Bolt-On!
You know, we could put some empty houses in towns and
make them available to buy! Just like in Daggerfall.
The front doors of all empty houses would be scripted - without key,
you cannot enter.
It all can be done via dialogue options, not message boxes.
That would make easier adding a new houses.
Same thing can be done with boats!
Just look at Sell`n`Sail Galleon Mod!
Of course, we need to get permission from author
of that mod, but it could be so cool!
After all, you could buy both houses and boats in Daggerfall...
Oh, and pardon my dirty english... Please...
Heh, kick my ass - this topic IS pathetic...

there are several. all cost a frikkin' ton, except Maya PLE, which is freeware, and what im using to make a mudskipper model (just for fun, and cuz my friend wants me too), but Maya PLE cant make nif files, which is what morrowind uses. i havent heard of an exporter plugin for it or anything. plus it adds a stupid watermark to your render windo telling you that its not fro comercial use.

buying houses, sounds good. so heres what you're doing, correct me if im wrong:
new houses will be put in each city
using the door of the house will pop up a box telling you where to buy the house (just locked would mean people could pick it)
speaking to the seller would allow you to buy any house in a town (lage ones could have a few)
when the house is purchased the player gets a key. once he has the key the script is permenantly disabled
well it sounds good, has had some support, so go ahead. if anyone wants to get involved, or you want to add new features, just post up here. and let us know how the claim progresses.

I don't know if it's possible to type in what you want it to be. I have never seen a script or dialogue function like that. On this note, what's the function to change a cell name? I know that possible, because the name of the cells for the original Morrowind strongholds were changed when you start building.

Nope... the names for the cells didn't change. They were always named Odai plateau, Uvirith's grave and... that other one.
As far as I've ever, ever seen (and I've seen alot of scripting) there are no ways to store or edit string variables, no ways to edit exterior cell names, and no way but %PCName to display the character's name anywhere.
Buying houses seems a little silly anyway... I mean sure it might add realism (to a certain extent), but the player never really... settles into any one place, nor does he seem to have any plans to. The game simply wasn't built to support a home or family in the same way that Fable does (which seems to be the idea you're after).

Oh, sorry, I never got my stronghold, I just seem to remember that from my friends game.Stumpytheguar wrote:Nope... the names for the cells didn't change. They were always named Odai plateau, Uvirith's grave and... that other one.
I think buying houses in certain places would be nice. I always like storing my stuff when I become over-encumbered in certain places. Every empty house becomes my storehouse, seeing as I collect everything I don't sell.
I'd love to see certain houses buyable.

Some players like houses, some don't. Some like fortresses, and some just like storage depots. There needs to be homes for those who actually want somewhere to use as a base, and those that just want to dump their stuff. Oh, and Stumpy, its called Bal Isra and its a really, really crappy place to visit.

This looks good, I like it. I think that there ought to be a way to buy houses in major citys (balmora, ald'ruhn, Sadrith Mora, Mournhold, ect) Maybe to where Once you kill the resident of a strong hold(like Grothen from Tel Ahrun) you could buy his stronghold. It wouldn't change very much except that you would get more recognition when you walk arround town.

Uhh, Blackblade we are modding Tamriel, there are tons of large scale housing mods for Vvardenfell. I think it is a good idea, but shouldn't go too far. I personally favor the galleon that you can sail around with W-A-S-D keys, as travelling places in boat is just, really, really cool. Has anyone contacted the makers of the SellnSail Galleon or Fishing Academy(island would need to be moved) mod?
