Tribute to the Creators

Post by Garriath »

Reading over Skyrim's description of the Pocket Guide of the Empire, I read that, on a certain Nordic festival, the names of a Nordic king (I appologize, but I've forgotten his name) and his five hundred followers are recited.

I'm normally highly against easter eggs, but I've been glancing at other people's ideas... some have suggested building houses in Cyrodiil for the most beneficiary members of TR, which I find a bit of a stretch. But here's my idea:

What if we took the names of the 500 most useful people on TR (by the time we do this in Skyrim, assuming the Project's still up, we ought to have at least 500 contributers) and used their names (or variations) for if the player happens to be at the festival on the correct day.

I think it'd be a good tribute to all that've worked on TR.

And how would we figure out who those 500 are?

but those names are recitated on the streets [ie outside, open-air], thus it's for exterior modders only :]

Yeah, so we only throw in a "few" (50 or so) names... like "Sir Weut alocht"(sirwootalot) or "Acheruun the stubborn"(acheron) or "Vagara Bennfrik"(vagara, sounds nordic enough already)... or for our german/scandanavian members, they could probably just use their real names (like "Dirk" or "Rolf").

I fully agree with Túrelio on this. Is there's a place for the centurion there ? :)

I personally would think that all ingame references to TR modders should be banned and burn in hell :D

Honestly, do whatever you want with that other credit thingy since it doesn't affect the game itself, but don't let it get to the gaming experience itself. I wouldn't want to see the creators glorified in a game I play myself.

I agree with you Kothloth, besides, creators are glorified by their hard work and making the game what it is, not by adding themselves to it. If anything, we should just make a large credit of what everone has done(claimwise/models/etc) or maybe even just a list of all our members, and what they'd like to be known for(like choose something they did, perhaps even just provide lore discussions).

You can pretty much watch the forums and see who's been contributing (not to imply number of posts reflects contribution-don't read that from this post) just by seeing that there are only like 50 or so ppl who accualy post at all on a regular basis. And you, Gooblecakes, are one of the twisted ones lol.

lol, i remember the days when members were just proud when they got the silver star ranking which meant they had 500 posts. now with all and sundry reaching 1000 it seems we are in a never ending quest to give ourselves more credit. lets keep the thing purely as an easter egg that noone will discover unless we tell them - then we can have as much fun as possible designing the dialogue for our characters - i assume we can do that in the hall Haplo?

yeah, you can do that. OR you can have generic dialogue and have your NPC call the player a 'ninny chicken' every time they talk :-D

and gc what do you mean same thing as inferno? You weren't around when we still had ranks...I was :-D

Yeah, just keep the Hall of Heroes in its inaccessible cell and let that be the end of it. Most people put some kind of subtle calling card in at least one of their claims anyway, so adding more to it will not help matters. I know that I once put a sword in a hidden piece of a claim called "Gallant's Farwell". It is not magical and it is not something that anyone would figure out unless they knew me, but I am still not sure it will make it past the reviewers, lol!

At one point, I had planned to put a "hermit's fountain" into Almalexia, but decided against that for various reasons ... now, I am gonna put a hermit's hut into 4-20 or 4-17. just into the mountains ...

Gallant's Farewell ... I like that a lot. :)
