Description:
While slaying the faceless man claiming to be Vaden Baro is more than reasonable decision in the quest context, doing so will fail the quest and ruin the whole later questline.
Basically, the only proper way to complete the quest is to believe horrific faceless thing you were specifically told not to believe. And only in doing so you can learn that he is telling the truth.
On top of that, if you kill Vaden Baro quest is not marked as failed and stays open forever.
Also, quest title is a huge spoiler

There is body of OG ordinator at the end of pitch black room with Vaden Baro, so if you find it you'll know the one outside is a imposter.
