bert’s alive!
Okay so I posted more detailed concept art for bert in the Deshaan thread:
The art is in the upper right corner, the rest is unrelated.
I imagined it being a sort of flat podlike plant; your model should be more flat and oblong. the roots are interesting, more prominent than I had originally thought of, but I’d like to hear other people on that to see if they like the roots showing more or less.

I personally think I prefer the version with the alpha-mapped roots mainly because the larger roots remind me too much of the ash yam. Great work on this and on those salt crystals!

It’s closer! But, remember that the concept for bert is just the upper right corner; it should be smooth all around, no lobes. Like a big almond.

Looks good! They still look a bit lobey, maybe that’s the texture?
I like the alpha roots much better. The tufts on top, I had imagined a single fairly flat tuft, what do other people think?

I like them as they are now. Now I’m imagining a stage of growth where the pod opens up and blooms like an artichoke.

Changed the textures, the fluff and made 2 variations of smaller slightly rounder pods.

I like them! They look quite good, and the only thing that could be fiddled with a bit is the texture, which can be dealt with once we know a little more about the appearance of the Deshaan.
