Other than the vanilla troopers, TR's Imperial Legion soldiers wear asymmetrical pauldrons attributed to them via leveled lists. 

This randomized equipment (left shoulder imperial legion, right shoulder some leather variation, for example) does not really fit to the uniformized, standardized image of the legion. 

Leveled Items T_Mw_Random_ArmorsPldrLImperial and T_Mw_Random_ArmorsPldrRImperial are both applied to them, each one allows 2x imperial pauldrons, 1x imperial_chain_pauldron and 1x T_Imp_StuddedLeather - so that in result, chainmail and studded leather randomly appear on the standard troopers along with the typical legion pauldrons.

I could imagine that this was done on purpose for some variation, just like the troops in Gnisis - but it has a weird effect for the generated standard legionnaire equipment.
