Idea I’ve been batting back and forth in my head, and thought I’d put it here to see what you guys thought of it.
Long story short, I roleplay in TESO as one of my hobbies. And it’s come to my attention that some of the storylines generated by the RP community are pretty darn good, and could make for inspiration for lore, quest plots, or even past canon history in the form of books (for TESO takes place in the Second Era, and focuses on the lands of the Indoril and Dres). As an example, a year or so ago the roleplay community put on an Ashlander War, which pulled in a few hundred participants from several guilds by the time it had run its course, and became a defining canon event for all player roleplay in Morrowind. This War could show up as a book or in Ashlander dialogue, perhaps even included in an Ashlander quest involving putting the spirits of the dead to rest (for in TESO, the Ashlanders pretty much got massacred).
The things I’m hesitating on is that first we’d probably need permission to use the ideas. While roleplay isn’t technically copyrighted, it’s still good practice and a courtesy to fellow Elder Scrolls fans. Second is that some (perhaps even most?) roleplay is not up to our standards of lore or other details of plot, character, and writing. (TESO lore screwed up many things.) So even if the basic ideas are good, it may be teasing drama to ask for suggestions and then have to turn down more than half of them. Personally, to avoid this I would just have devs like me ferret out the good storylines and ask for permission, rather than going the other way around and ask the roleplay community for submissions, but I don’t know what would be best there.
On the bright side, it could get people interested in Tamriel Rebuilt again in a positive way. There are often many graphical artists, music artists, and plot writers in roleplay communities. I also like to think of these two communities of Elder Scrolls nuts working together on a world they love. As a roleplayer, I’d be psyched if my personal character got some kind of reference in a big project like TR, no matter how small--but that’s just me!
So what do you all think? Worth pursuing for our PR wing?

I think roleplay-based content will be a great source of ideas and concept, It will also draw attention as well and gives people of other TES communities a chance to participate in creating this lore ( as I am basically one of them), however as you say the lore could possibly be not up to standard, but as long as it can be refined and perfected and if asked for permission, I suppose this shouldn't create a problem.

This is something that should definitely be brought up at the next meeting as it’s a very interesting idea.
Does: concepts, textures, youtube vids, admin stuff e.g. PR, handbook, assets, small website things. Activity level: wildly unpredictable. Still active. Find me on Discord.

I unfortunately can’t make the Skype meetings, so could we note it down on the agenda?

The thing I’m most hestitant about is that both ESO and TR are wildly divergent in canon.
If TR was a new project, we’d have our share of retcons already. Let’s make no mistakes – we (and PT, which in my eyes is a package deal) are incompatible with unfiltered lore and the TES setting after Morrowind. Oblivion’s Cyrodiil alone is a total dealbreaker that cannot be reconciled.
Most of ESO meanwhile is not only full of retcons but totally illogal and does not mesh with the history TR uses. If people in ESO’s rp community would actually like to join up and do things – or if we got to use their things – not only would there be a huge culture shock, but we’d have to discard most of it anyway because it just simply does no mix with history as TR and PT created it. Some fundamental assumptions are different.

Ouch, man. Not that I disagree. Would it still be worth posting a recruiting message among some of the guilds, do you think?

Sure, why not. Can’t hurt to try and you make a good case.
We talked about it on the meeting today, and decided that there should be a “TR for the lore grognard” page – which still needs to be written, within the week hopefully – to point out how exactly TR differs from mainstream TES lore, cosmic TES, and ESO. This should help reduce the culture shock when people from those communities take a look at our setting and find it… off.

Begun some tentative reaching out, and hope to do some more now that the Lore Grognard is complete. I made up this mockup thread on a low population forums, but I wanted to get your guys’ take on what else I should include or what links I should be using officially before I try pinging any of the more populous community forums:

For instance, I see mentions of using concept art or videos for PR. Can anyone point me to those?

I just finished making a concept art bundle for PR purposes. Here it is: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bxtf3PaWZqbXUXMzWEt6RHJFM2M
