The quest is titled, "A Pilgrim Scorn'd," and can be started by talking to Llerna Dunor outside Hlan Oek, who is standing next to the stele with the town's name on it. On the surface, it concerns the humble pilgrim Llerna attempting to retrieve (or rather, having you retrieve for her) her limited-edition Handbook For The Devout which she dropped on the road between Indal-ruhn and Hlan Oek while fleeing from a bandit.

Full details of the quest are below (I would appreciate a blind run just to see how intuitive my writing and guidance is, though):

Spoiler: Highlight to view

A Pilgrim Scorn'd

Help an eccentric and well-meaning Dunmer pilgrim recover her limited-edition copy of the Handbook For The Devout

Main characters:

- Llerna Dunor, Dunmer pilgrim

- Sigurdr Dark-Eye, meatheaded Nord bandit

The quest begins upon talking to Llerna Dunor, who is located outside Hlan Oek near the entrance stele. Her predicament is discussed in the "latest rumors" topic among residents of Hlan Oek. She will enlist the player's help in recovering her limited-edition autographed version of A Handbook For The Devout, which she says she absolutely *must* have before she can travel to Almas Thirr. The player is instructed to follow her trail of dropped books and other items north up the road, at which point they will be ambushed by a Nord bandit named Sigurdr Dark-Eye. He demands the player turn over all their gold, but refuses to actually let you go if you agree and attacks you anyway.

After a brief fight, if Sigurdr falls below 30% health without dying, he attempts to surrender and exhorts the player to stop attacking. If the player chooses to let him speak, he claims that he and Llerna Dunor are partners in crime, with her sending unsuspecting adventurers on a wild goose-chase to die by Sigurdr's hand. He will then give you Llerna's handbook and ask for mercy, which the player can choose to grant. If Sigurdr dies or is killed before giving the player the handbook, it can be taken off his corpse.

Upon returning to Llerna, the player can simply hand in the handbook immediately for the reward, which is 80 gold and an illusion spell called Seht's Binding which paralyzes and blinds its target. Alternatively, if the player allowed Sigurdr to speak, they can follow up on his claims to Llerna. If the player has at least 50 speechcraft, she admits she knew it was more dangerous than she let on, and assumed you were up to the task, but regardless vehemently denies Sigurdr's accusations, believing it to be an attempt to save his own skin. If the player grills Llerna about Sigurdr's claims, they have the additional option to keep the book out of a lack of trust when turning it in to Llerna, which frustrates her. The player can then give the book back and apologize for their remarks if they have a change of heart, but will not recieve a reward. Llerna will leave for Almas Thirr regardless of the quest's outcome- immediately once player leaves the area, if she has the book, or after three days of refusal.

After the end of the quest, both characters may be encountered in Almas Thirr later. As long as she was not killed, Llerna will be found in the temple praying to the shrine of St. Veloth. She will merely remark that she is praying for your salvation if you chose to withhold the book from her at any point, but if you agreed without hesitating she will be ecstatic to see you and give you a third reward: an enchanted amulet called the Rosary of St. Veloth, which she says was enchanted on her request by the Temple faithful, specifically as a reward for you in case you ever saw her again.

If Sigurdr was spared and allowed to leave, he can be found imprisoned in the Almas Thirr prison, visited by his partner Hrolf Hrolfsson, who is trying to convince the Ordinators to let him out. They will simply remark that he sees little chance of being freed at the current rate.

Thank you in advance!

Update: the full list of changes is in the spoiler below.

Spoiler: Highlight to view

- Updated the plugin to the current TR_Mainland and Tamriel_Data
- Changed Sigurdr Dark-Eye's name to Jorunn Snow-Shod to avoid the unintended Sigurdr Snake-in-the-eye reference (his editor ID still has his original name)
- Tried to rewrite a lot of the dialogue to be more clear and less corny
- Changed the "Seht's Binding" spell to be Paralyze and Silence, and made it a bit more expensive to cast
- Changed the rumor to include the dead knight so the player can have context on why his corpse is there
- Changed the Rosary of St. Veloth's enchantment to Fortify Endurance and Fortify Intelligence by 15 for 30 seconds
- Tweaked dialogue and switched to using PositionCell to move Llerna to the temple instead of creating a new NPC
- Leaned away somewhat from the "Nords hate elves" stuff- it was supposed to be funny, but it ended up feeling a bit overworked and low brow
- Added some lines for Llerna mentioning that she saw Jorunn being taken away if you let him go, to lead players to the prison if they found Llerna first
    - Also added an extra journal entry for the above
- Made Jorunn's corpse persist to avoid players losing the quest item if they leave, and to ensure checking if he's dead from elsewhere works
- Added some dialogue lines to the Ordinators in the prison about Jorunn under the topic "Jorunn Snow-Shod"

The up-to-date quest outline is also below:

A Pilgrim Scorn'd

Help an eccentric and well-meaning Dunmer pilgrim recover her limited-edition copy of the Handbook For The Devout

Main characters:

- Llerna Dunor, Dunmer pilgrim

- Jorunn Snow-Shod, meatheaded Nord bandit

The quest begins upon talking to Llerna Dunor, who is located outside Hlan Oek near the entrance stele. Her predicament is discussed in the "latest rumors" topic among residents of Hlan Oek. She will enlist the player's help in recovering her limited-edition autographed version of A Handbook For The Devout, which she says she absolutely *must* have before she can travel to Almas Thirr. The player is instructed to follow her trail of dropped books and other items north up the road, at which point they will be ambushed by a Nord bandit named Jorunn Snow-Shod. He demands the player turn over all their gold, but just laughs at you and tells you that you "weren't going to get away so easily" if you actually agree.

After a brief fight, if Jorunn falls below 30% health, he will attempt to surrender to the player, implying he has something important to say. The player can either choose to let him speak or continue the fight. If the player chooses to let him speak, he will claim that he and Llerna are working together to rob travellers, but that she made a mistake in sending someone who could actually fight down the road. He will then give you Llerna's handbook and ask for mercy, which the player can choose to grant. If Jorunn dies without handing over the handbook, it can be looted off his corpse.

Upon returning to Llerna, the player can simply hand in the handbook immediately for the reward, which is 80 gold and (optionally) an illusion spell called Seht's Binding, which paralyzes and silences its target. If the player allowed Jorunn to speak, they can instead interrogate Llerna about his claims. Normally, she will respond with shock and outrage, but if the player has >= 50 Speechcraft skill, she will admit that she did to some degree deceive you by not making the danger of the situation clear. If the player does choose to investigate Jorunn's claims, they will gain an additional option to withhold the book from Llerna out of mistrust, which severely angers her. The player can then give the book back and apologize for their remarks if they have a change of heart, but will not recieve a reward. Llerna will leave for Almas Thirr regardless of the quest's outcome- immediately after the player leaves the area, once she has the book, or after three days if she was not given the book.

After the end of the quest, both characters may be encountered in Almas Thirr later. As long as she was not killed, Llerna will be found in the temple praying to the shrine of St. Veloth. She will merely remark that she is praying for your salvation if you chose to withhold the book from her at any point, but if you agreed to give it back to her she will be ecstatic and present you with another reward: an enchanted amulet called the Rosary of St. Veloth, which she says was enchanted on her request by the Temple, specifically as a reward for you in case you ever saw her again. If Jorunn was allowed to live, she will also mention that she saw him being dragged away by the Ordinators in Almas Thirr and questions if showing compassion to him was the right choice.

Regardless of whether they heard it from Llerna first, the player can go to the prison in Almas Thirr and ask the Ordinators there about Jorunn. The warden's secretary, Undena Dolovas, will mention that he has many charges against him which do not inspire confidence in his rehabilitation. If the player visits the last cell on the right, as indicated by Ordinators in the prison, they can find Jorunn behind bars conversing with his partner Hrolf Hrolfsson, who is frustrated at Jorunn's lack of morals and inability to stay out of trouble.
