Colors for the Dyemaker, misc quest
(Set in whatever city, probably Indoril if they like colorful and fancy clothes.)
[dyemaker] is looking for someone to run errands for him occasionally. He’s getting old, or perhaps his shop is bustling, and he either can’t or doesn’t want to leave the shop to get his supplies. Maybe his local suppliers have stopped supplying for some reason.
In any case, he would like someone (you) to go fetch dye supplies, which would be things like pigments, minerals, or animal or plant ingredients. Possibly, the quests would include you having to steal, convince, or otherwise get certain ingredients in special ways.
Once they are gotten, he might ask you to come back later for the completed dye and deliver the dye to a special customer, a local or far away clothier.
He would have a series of spaced out requests that would take you all over Morrowind in a quest for various ingredients. His quests would be spaced so that the next quest shows up a few days after the previous is completed.
Possibly he gives you gold or favors as a quest reward (or, increases various people's disposition to you). The reward could also be knowing where certain rare ingredients grow or can be found.
Network possibilities:
The quests could be triggered by his old supply routes being cut off via political upheaval. He could also be a friend or loyal supplier of a local lord (Indoril?) who might be involved in something political. As he knows miscellaneous merchants around, his quests could also introduce you to other questgivers.
These quests can also send you to very remote places like the caves of the Deshaan, solstheim, etc.
EDIT: to be clear, this is an open quest idea and anyone is welcome to develop it more fully.

One of the rewards could be TR-specific clothing, with or without enchantments.

I don’t mean to derail this topic with a tangent, but I need to point out that I do not recommend writing quests like this. Ideallly, any quest plans should be carefully based on a specific settlement or location, taking into account its existing characters and concept.

A semi-related note: some lore states that, while Dunmer mostly use neutral-colored clothes in public, they actually have a preference for bizarre and unusual colors in private settings (like the horrible pink-and-yellow extravagant robe). One idea for the Cyrodiilic Silk-weaver’s guild was that they sourced their more uncommon colors from Morrowind’s unusual insect fauna.
Holy shit is there a way to turn off the auto save message it is driving me insane

Infragis: That’s interesting; I had thought there might be some interesting materials that would be able to be make into dyes (dirt, plants, mushrooms, rocks, crystals, animal excretions or parts, etc)
Parker: Yes, I agree, a quest like this should really be tailored to its location, whenever this idea is actually developed enough. At the moment it’s quite a general idea and will need more ideas and input from people who know what they’re doing before it’s ready for specifics.
Does: concepts, textures, youtube vids, admin stuff e.g. PR, handbook, assets, small website things. Activity level: wildly unpredictable. Still active. Find me on Discord.

Ready to be transferred to the asset browser? This sounds general enough it may still need some figuring before it gets moved.

As the person who tossed out this idea, I would consider it not developed enough, as there’s very little detail. However, if someone wants to flesh it out (I probably won’t be) then it would be ready to go. It shouldn’t be a terribly advanced quest...

“His quests would be spaced so that the next quest shows up a few days after the previous is completed.”
For any specific reason? I’m afraid this might be a good way to get people to forget about these quests while playing. It’s pretty easy to get distracted.
Maybe the bigger requests could be spaced out by smaller requests if you prefer that sort of pacing?
