This is a general thread for niggling over random clutter in TR_Data, as niggling over details is apparently one of my hobbies. The specific reason I’m making this thread now is because Worsas brought my attention to some vagueness and inconsistencies with some of our beverages and how we use them that I would like to clear up.
Goya – originally, this was intended to be a Morrowind bourbon. In hindsight, I feel the design and name reflects that as well. The in-game dialogue entry says that it is an imported Imperial beverage, however. The drink is used (though sparingly) in a wide range of both Dunmer and Imperial locations, but appears most frequently in Old Ebonheart. It is also in the TR_random_drinks_cyrodiil and TR_random_drinks_imported levelled lists.
I personally feel the drink has more potential as a high-class Morrowind beverage. Perhaps Imperials in Morrowind drink it as well as its taste is more palatable to them than the cheaper local swill and it is easier to buy and import from local merchants than Cyrodiilic beverages. (Perhaps the price could be dropped slightly to reflect that). The only real change this would require would be slightly altering one line of dialogue (three entries) and removing it from the two named levelled lists, though I would be willing to replace some of the OE instances with actual Imperial drinks as well.
Jagga – the nature and origin of Jagga is actually pretty clear, and it is a Bosmer drink. The Dunmer also apparantly love the stuff, as there are at least 109 instances of it in TR. I assume this is due to its really low cost of 10 Septims (which should be higher due to importation costs and taxation; I can only assume the price is so low due to shattering lack of demand, in which case why would it be imported in the first place) and that nothing in its ID makes it clear that it is a Bosmer, not a Dunmer, beverage, so some developers might miss the fact that it’s a drink imported from the other side of the continent which is notoriously unpalatable to most non-Bosmer. It might also indicate a lack of variety in local drinks; the vanilla selection isn’t bad, but the shapes of the local drinks are all very similar.
In this case, I think the least amount of work would be to just rename our Jagga and make it a new local drink, and if need be re-add Jagga as a separate drink later with a more explicit ID and better values. This will require the same changes as above; changing three dialogue entries and removing the drink from some levelled lists. Frankly, I think the dialogue entries are pretty dry at the moment anyway. (No pun intended).
Worsas was also wondering if some of our misc wines could be replaced with PC wines, such as Nibenay Valley Holy Wine with their Twin Moon Wine, which has the same values.
