Hello all.
Looks like my old account has been deleted: “Tyrant”. I’ve been in and out of here since 2010, made a handful of interiors, including the OE FG HQ and submitted one questline (not sure if the quest made it into the game)…. anyways, i’m around again, hopefully can start contributing once more.
The new website looks great, and very glad to see this place is active.
Here to throw an idea out there for discussion.
As far as quests, I think it;s good for immersion to have a variety of simple, mundane tasks for the player to have. Simple things to do in town for the player to earn a bit of money, and to bring the town to life a bit.
Some simple examples
- Pick a farmers crops
- Hunt some animals
- Load/unload a ship at a dock
- etc.
These jobs could regenerate at the start of each day. A good means for a player to earn some cash, and have something to do in town. Doing work around the town could also raise the players standing with the townfolk.
In my opinion, this also creates a stronger sense of progression. When you go from plucking Ash Yams for a few measly septims each day, you’ll be much more appreciative of your full suit of Daedric armor.

Hey Tyrant, nice to see that you’re back. Your account wasn’t deleted, this is just a completely new forum.
I still remember that this claim was the last thing you worked on; I finished it after you were gone.
OT: I think some simple quests are always nice to have, but it’s not worth the effort of trying to create randomly generated quests (if that’s even possible). But we definitely need more people working on quests, so it’s great that you want to do just that

I agree that mundane tasks are good. They help flesh out the world and let you know what the “normal” people of Morrowind are doing while they aren’t being helped by level 100 heroes decked out in Daedric armor.
I suppose we could do something like daily tasks, but sometimes those start to lose their magic, as the dialogue is always the same. It feels strange when a guy asks for ash yams the same way every time, even if he only asks for them 1 in 5 times of talking to him. The dialogue would have to be changing at times too, not just the quests associated with them.
I’d have to test it out, but I don’t think making random tasks would actually be all that hard. The Latest Rumors are built on a random generator, and it’s easy enough to attach the “quest starter script” (journal update) to those random dialogue choices, and go from there. Skyrim took this and made it more complicated than it has to be (randomizing the dungeon location and the objective along with the dialogue). And honestly, Skyrim’s random quests always felt stale to me because of that. They weren’t given enough character, that more hand-crafted objectives and such can do.

I think mundane tasks could be good if done well. I don’t know as for random tasks, but it might be nice to have a set of small, relatively easy tasks. I would prefer them if they had enough customization—granted, not much— but enough that their character reflected the person who gave them and their surroundings. Even if it’s just that one ash farmer is grumpy, and another one is less grumpy.
Does: concepts, textures, youtube vids, admin stuff e.g. PR, handbook, assets, small website things. Activity level: wildly unpredictable. Still active. Find me on Discord.

I agree that some simpler tasks would be great, but I also think they would have to be handcrafted.
It would be nice to have range from simpler to more sophisticated tasks. If done right, I think that would also benefit roleplaying because even a level 100 hero in Daedric armor sometimes maybe has a vivecian need to help in the fields ;)
