Hello all! New to TR but longtime Morrowind player. First off, thanks to everyone for the work done on TR. It looks to be amazing!

I am not sure if this is the correct place to ask this or if it is a known issue. I searched, but I'm not sure of the exact terms to describe my problem. I'm running a clean install of GOTY and TR on Windows 10. I registered the .bsa files, and the game starts fine and plays so far with no crashes.

The problem I am having is that in fullscreen my menu (Stats, inventory, magic, etc.)  is losing focus. By that, I mean, in the menu the lower right quadrant of my screen is seen by my computer as the desktop. If I try clicking to change magic, I am thrown out of fullscreen effectively minimizing the game. No crash or errors that I have seen. The game cursor arrow changes back to the windows arrow in this location, so I guess the game isn't seeing this as the "game"

I can move the menu components out of the quadrant, and all works fine but am wondering if anyone else has experienced this or if there is a solution. Perhaps I missed a file or did something wrong in the setup.

Does anyone have any idea as to what is going on?

I'd give OpenMW a try and see if that works without issues for you, its engine far less buggy already than the original one.

Thanks, I'll go back and reinstall all of it with OpenMW tonight to see if it helps.

No luck. I removed everything for good measure then reinstalled GOTY, OpenMW 0.43 64bit, and then TR and the problem is still there. Checksums were ok but I'll try downloading it again tomorrow to try again.

It's more an annoyance than a problem for now. I put it on this laptop for ease of use but it can go on a Win7 desktop if it has to.

Is this a windows issue you get with other fullscreen games? Openmw should have a windowed mode option you can try. You should also download and apply the Morrowind Code Patch if you haven't (for the original engine, not for openMW - original engine together with MCP is probably still not as stable as openMW but it's more complete)

Are you sure this is not a third party games overlay being active? If you have the same problem in both Morrowind and OpenMW then it can't be a Morrowind problem.

Rot and Atrayonis: No it isn't an issue with other games, but I don't play much else on this laptop. I applied the patch and installed GOTY in the correct order. I figured it is another app causing the issue, possibly Windows latest update. I have played OpenMW for the two years or so on this PC with no issues but recently (after the Windows Update) started playing again and decided to give TR a go.

My last effort on this laptop to get this running is to reinstall into a non-Program Files folder. I havent had an issue before running from that location but who knows what changed. The only problem is the install.exe will not let me change directories. Does anyone have a clue where Win10 stores the registry key for Morrowind?  "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Bethesda Softworks/Morrowind" or "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind" are not in the registry. Would it be somewhere in CurrentUser?

Edit: I found it it is in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MA CHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bethesda Softworks". I'll install everything agin in a different directory and then see if it works. Also I'll look into what changed in the Windows update.

I left everything I posted in case someone is having the same issues later.

Thanks for the help everyone. I finally found the culprit. The problem was caused by the latest update of Windows and my display driver on this laptop. Whenever Morrowind or OpenMW switched to fullscreen Windows popped up a notification to fix blurry text relating to DPI scaling. Additionally, my display driver notified me that 1280x720 was not the optimal resolution for my screen-even if I dismissed these notifications the bottom right quadrant of the fullscreen remained effectively as part of the desktop. I had to select to not receive these notifications in the future for the bottom of the full screen to work. If I switch back to getting notified, the problem comes back.

I had been receiving the resolution notice before the updated, but it wasn't causing the issue. So I guess how the updated Windows handles notifications changed.
