Hello all.

I was a modder here several years ago by the name of Tyrant, unfortunately I’ve lost that log-in info. Oh well.

My question is whether or not the possibility of adding this to the Steam Workshop has been discussed? I have no idea what’s involved with that or what it would take.

It would make it very accessible for players. I talked to a handful playing Morrowind in steam that had not heard of this mod, and everyone checks what’s available in the Workshop. Unfortunately Morrowind does not have one.

That sounds like a decent idea. And You wouldn’t believe how many people don’t know about this mod. it’s really surprising.

The very long development process hasn’t helped. I voiced concerns back in the day that we should have relaxed the standards on things like item rotation a tad in order to expedite the whole Mod.

You can still make it look good without obsessing over perfection. Especially consider the fact that probably half the Vanilla interiors would not have passed TR review. That said the work does look amazing for most of this mod, but most players just won’t notice or appreciate that a wooden fork has been perfectly rested on the Dunmer table to 0.01 rotation accuracy.

Of course I was just told to shut my mouth and kill myself. (paraphrasing)

I saw a lot of modders have their work rejected when it probably would have been fine. No surprise so many have become discouraged and turned away.

On your log-in info, it must have been on the old forum – everybody had to create a new account on this one, so you can still retake your old nick if you want.

Don’t know about the steam workshop thing but if it doesn’t have one for morrowind… what’s left to discuss?

I wouldn’t mind getting back into it if I ever got some free time… would be nice to dust off the construction set! I’ll take a look at the claims

As for the workshop… finding out about whether it can be implemented might be worth discussing?... It’s the way of the future as far as modding goes. On Steam installing your mod is a one-click subscription process, which allows subscribers to automaticly have their mods installed as well as updated to the latest version.

The problem is – there is no workshop for Morrowind, so it is impossible to put this mod up there. Anyway, from my experience, Steam Workshop is a big mess and it is very tricky to get it working with any mod manager. This whole “Subscribtion” thing makes it hard to remove the mod and distinguish the mod’s files from another ones.

Hi. I’ve updated your user roles so that you can now actually claim stuff. User roles replaced the old user groups when we moved the forums off phpBB2. If you want, I can rename your current account to your old nickname too.

That said – as Bombur and Rot have said: without a Steam workshop for Morrowind mods, we can’t actually upload anything anywhere, so what exactly are we supposed to do? A steam workshop is a framework to upload files to Steam, which is completely out of our hands.

Thanks for the update. I’m going to start messing around in the editor on my own to shake off some rust and hopefully claim something soon. I’ll stick with the new name. Before I start… any drastic changes in the process since I’ve been gone I should know about? (1 year or so).

…Regarding Steam Workshop. Yeah I don’t know much about the workshop to be honest, just that it’s very convenient for downloaders. I was more asking whether that had already been considered or if it was impossible or what… just a question.

The current claims workflow is – as much as I could make it – similar to the old one. It no longer depends on forums as a crutch, so it advances the stage field instead.
There was a topic about it a while ago here, which will eventually get an update with pictures (they make everything clearer).

oblivion doesn’t even have a workshop unforunately. I don’t think there are enouogh players for valve to put resources into creating them.
