Hey guys, i finally got this darn scanner working, and i’m happy to announce that i’ll be posting art way more often, and with better quality. I will take suggestions, and try to upload art as much as possible, and get stuff done too.

i’m not very experienced, so i’d love as many tips and tricks as possible. this is what i’ve got so far; it’s on house dres’s Chap’thil.

Blessed are we who serve Almsivi.

I don’t want to sound rude, but I can’t make anything out in both pictures.

Perhaps you could add a bit more detail overall?

sure! those were realy last minute, so they were rather messy. also, for some reason they wont get smaller. i’ve got a few more pieces of art coming, i’ll be sure to spend more time on them.

I like these; your drawing style seems to fit the organic nature of a lot of stuff in morrowind. A few comments:

  1. To make these smaller, when you put them in the post using the image button, in that button after you paste in the link, there is a little place below where you can change the dimensions of the image. I recommend making images around 200-300 pixels wide for thumbnails or 600-800 pixels wide for full size. If you want your image to link to the fullsize image there’s an option in the image menu that allows you to put in a link; simply put in the same link as the image address.
  2. One thing you can try for in these images is more contrast: right now there’s a lot of stuff going on everywhere and not much direction. For a viewer, there’s a bunch of stuff and no clear easy hierarchy in the images for what to look at first. Try using different line weights; make the important stuff darker.

That’s interesting. It looks like a cloaked figure to me, from the shoulders up. Is that what you intended?

(Also, remember to host your images off-site instead of adding them as attachments.)

There appears to be a broken image in your last post. I like the figure; the open helm makes me think a bit of a cross of the Dreugh helm and the 1st PGE helm. I’d actually consider adding eye slots to the top of your helm so that it can be pulled down to act as a visor. Is he supposed to be Dres?

yeah, he’s dres. i was trying to create a starting point for the base look of your average house dres dunmer. i’d love if you guys made some artand/or contributed ideas to the base house dres look. when in doubt, look at Michael Kirkbride’s work. try to take some of his un-used bonemold helm/armor ideas as well. thanks for the tips!

Your art is very stylized; it’s neat. I wonder if it would look good as part of an ingame book or on a tapestry? It has the paintbrush feel of some of the older Chinese scroll artworks, that I could see Dunmer using.

The more I look at these the more I like them. They’re very suggestive and as such don’t really lend themselves to functional concept art but I love the energy in them, they make me want to take one and work into it.

also, take any of my art, any of it, anytime, work with it please, because  I've not the skills to fully realize them.

Hey guys! I spent about an hour and a half putting this one together, I found it somewhat presentable. I couldn’t get it to display properly. it’s a concept for a Dres Bonemold/Chitin armor. tell me what you think!

I like it. Is that sort of a cloak off to the side? Also, if you’re trying to get the image to display, when you make a post, there’s a field down near the bottom where you can “add a new image.” That will make it display automatically on the forum.

thanks man, yes it’s a cloak, the armor is an ornamental one, used by house dres officials.
I was making another concept today, and i was an hour and a half into it, but then my computer crashed and i lost it to oblivion!

The helmet looks very cool, echoes the indoril and temple helmets without being too obvious. I still like the idea of the some of the dres either using some different type of resin in their bonemold sets, or bleaching and polishing it, to make it white (or much lighter than the other sets)
