Hello,

recently posted this on Nexus and thought it could be posted here as well:

I have just updated from 1807 to 1809 and have just a well-meant suggestion:
I would appreciate to see a update instruction on tamriel-rebuilt.org that includes all eventualities. There is just this link to Wrye Mash that is not explaining it very well. For the start it says to "Put both new and old versions of the Mod in the Data Files directory." So a noob will in the worst case override old TR_mainland.esm with new TR_mainland.esm.
The instructions made by abot on his page are helpful how to start and he also covers the possibility of having additional mods in the modlist that depend on TR_mainland.esm. Takes a lot of changing masters and renaming the mod and someone that only reads the note on Nexus how simple the updating is might feel sudenly overburdened.

In my case I was not completely sure if I have update masters of abots boats/silt striders to the new 1809 version. When I tried to just update my save to the new TR (like recommended in Wrye Mesh link) my mod list went haywire and unchecked all mods that were dependant on TR_mainland.esm (because I had to reneme the new one to TR_mainland_new.esm and other plugins depended just on TR_mainland.esm). Maybe I made a stupid mistake, but it was just because I didn't get proper instructions.

I also read suggestions to clean up the save after updating TR to get rid of potential doubling on reddit. Something that might be true or might be not. Have not seen this advice on your page. Maybe also my fault, but a central guide for updating would also help noobs like me to do it right.

In the end I managed to update the mod, have cleaned my save, no doubling ingame, redirected all masters like abot recommended – but for me it was a pain in the ass for just this simple bug fix update.

I'm sorry if this sounds like complaint, it is not, I just want to help by giving you some insight how inexperienced people see things that seem so clear to those more experienced.

Keep up the great work
Dominik

You're right, I noticed that when linking the page but passed over it thinking those who don't already know wrye mash wouldn't even attempt it anyway. This probably needs a handbook page

Hello,

First, let me say many thanks to the devs for TR. I am really enjoying playing it.

Anyway, I started playing TR with 1807 (on a Mac with OpenMW) and was about level 5 or 6 with my character when I saw 1809 was out. As the "Wrye Mash" fix (never come across this program before) looked to be a pain I just decided to ignore it and install 1809 anyway. I have been playing for a few hours since with the same character and am now about level 9. I have seen no problems so I was wondering what problems I should be encountering if any?

Cheers
