Description:

Title. Hammerfell lore has changed so Crowns vs. Forebears is no longer pro-Imperial vs. anti-Imperial (this raised many questions, chief among them "why are there Crowns at an Imperial embassy in an Imperial tower"), so the dialogue at the Ebon Tower Hammerfell embassy needed some updating. The book T_Bk_OnHammerfell was written to help address the question of what exactly the Crown/Forebear divide actually is, and even more importantly to pad out the OE EEC's bookshelves, but Gnomey forgot to actually put the book in his int redo, even after I explicitly told him I'd write the book for that purpose. For shame!

This plugin: Rewrites the

Marhaus's picture

This plugin:

  • Rewrites the dialogue at the Ebon Tower Hammerfell mission while trying to keep the characters as close as possible, out of respect for the original claimant's work.
    • Istadahan and Akhalleki are still Crowns wearing traditionalist garb, and Hoxley is still a Forebear who wears Imperial clothing. Ideally I'd change one of these so it doesn't look like Forebears are just Hammerfell Hlaalu, but it's 3am here and I just want to go to bed. (Sidenote: The English-sounding names definitely shouldn't be unique to Forebears in general, or even to Imperial-sympathetic Redguards in general. Anglicizing names is just generally something Redguards do, even staunch anti-Imperials like Cyrus or Basil.)
    • Akhalleki is mononymic now, though, because Redguard NPCs are generally mononymic.
    • Hoxley is a merchant instead of a noble, because he's from Rihad, which is a sort of liberal democratic republic; its head of state is an elected military dictator. (Another sidenote: Despite being Forebear, Rihad is the most anti-Imperial city in all of Hammerfell, due to being on the tempestuous border with Cyrodiil. Hoxley being a pro-Imperial merchant who wears Imperial clothes and was, per his dialogue, tasked with facilitating trade between Rihad and Cyrodiil becomes more interesting in this light, as well as him calling it "stressful", which is part of why I ended up keeping it in the end. The other part was, again, that it's 3am here.)
    • Generally, Forebears vs. Crowns is a question of do you think Renaissance Venice was a tyrannical dictatorship of the nobility or an ordered, harmonious society where everything had its place. It is not Hlaalu vs. Indoril, which is the vision that the dialogue was originally written to support.
  • Adds two copies of T_Bk_OnHammerfell to the Hammerfell Mission and one to the Old Ebonheart East Empire Company Offices.
