Description:
Gidain Verayn at the Docks Warehouse is behind 3 locked doors, a 50, then 30, then 60 lock door. For a quest that mostly temple followers will pick up, it seems odd to have the requirement to break in 3 different doors. I'm trying to play a duty bound, charitable and kind temple devout who has no knowledge of security or alteration, and so relies on scrolls (and I suppose, eventually enchanted items) to begrudgingly break locks when presented with no other option. He doens't break the law, the law is everything to him. But before I even looked up how to finish the quest I just assumed the warehouse is empty of people (as it appears to be upon entering) and that Gidain must be somewhere else, or that I should follow some other clues to find out what happened to Aldam Soras.
I would suggest having a key be obtainable by some other means, for example persuading a dock worker with high disposition or by arguing sympathy for the deceased family etc. or have Gidain be in the first room. OR simply have one door be locked, 3 is overkill when using scrolls .... or some more clues like he's hiding in there or he doesn't like being disturbed so that the PC at least knows there's a good reason to break the lock on the first door (the interior looks so small and it looks like there are just some boxes behind the door...

The key can be found in the first room in the warehouse. Mage characters can rely on detect key spell to find it.

well damn, because I tried that with detect key (this PC has Mysticism as a major) and it didn't pop up on my minimap nor did I find it back when I searched the place. In the end I just consoled the doors open... In general I have found the detect spells to sometimes not work, specifically detect key and enchantment. A bug with OpenMW perhaps?

Just tested on OpenMW and it worked. Looks like a bug on your side.
