I returned after a year and there is a new version of "Tamriel Data" and for the file "Tamriel rebuilt" there is a hotfix.

I actually download both. So i guess i have to update these 2 files ?

1. So to update Tamriel rebuild, i just copy the TR_mainland.esm from the core-file i downloaded in Tamriel rebuilt and drop it into "Data files", to overwrite the existing, old TR_mainland.esm ?

2. the same for the newly downloaded "Tamriel Data" then ? Just dropping it into "Data files" to overwrite the existing files  ?

Sorry for asking this, but its pretty complicated and my english is not that well and i'm not a modder also

Essentially, yes. You will also want to copy over TR_Factions.esp and any other TR plugins that you may have been using.

Bear in mind, if you hope to continue with the same save from a year ago, we don't recommend it. Since the last update changed a lot about the mainland, you may run into serious bugs with an existing save. I recommend you finish your current playthrough in the old version of the mod and start a new character for the new version.

soooo i have the same question, but:

i'm new here and a absolute noob in moding and stuff. for me its a wonder that i managed to install and run TR, and i don't even know anymore how i did it  ( no moonsugar was involved .... i think )

1.

i started my 8 different characters in february 24 (TR 23.10 and TD 10.1),each for different guilds and houses.  i'm using openmw and TR factions but NO mods, mod manager, plugins or anything else. and i'm asking myself, is it worth the risk to update the files to TR 24.12 and TD 11? i really want to play the new content but i don't want to mess up my saves. my hope is, this "small" update and "small" step between the builds are compatible ?

2.

if the above way of "updating" the files is really "ok", do i have to update my saves as well?( i read something about it at nexus mods)

do i have to copy/overwrite anything else ? is this really it ? just this 2 files ??? no installation or new configuration in openmw or something??

3.

if i update to 24.12 and i can't keep my old saves, can i downgrade back to 23.10? so i can switch between builds and keep playing my old saves on old builds and new saves on new builds? or does this back and fore mess things up ?

4.

will the way on updating and risk be same for gasping fortune ?

and at last, thanks a lot for all the work you guys do her, this is my dream come true.

and sory for this questions, i have no clue whats possible and what not.

Hello, I'll try to answer your questions:

1) Since you've mentioned you're playing on OpenMW, the risk of completely bricking your save after a TD/TR update is a bit smaller than on the vanilla engine, since OpenMW handles certain errors more gracefully than the original game (meaning, on OpenMW the save will load but a certain quest might be broken, opposed to vanilla where the game will just refuse to launch at all). However, we can never guarantee that an update is save safe. Firemoth Rekindled is a smaller update in scope than the two previous updates, but even it includes landscape updates to existing areas and a lot of bugfixes that would inevitably cause issues on existing saves.

To sum it up, on OpenMW the saves might remain playable (but even that isn't guaranteed), but our recommendation will always be to start a new save.

2) You don't need to update your saves (a save editor for OpenMW doesn't really exist, anyway).

If by two files you mean the TD and TR ESMs, then no, updating them isn't enough to update to the new release. You also need to copy all assets from the TD11 archive to the folder where you have TD10 installed, and replace them as needed. For TR you also need to replace the TR_Factions ESP with the new version bundled with TR24.12, and if you were using any Firemoth previously, you'll need to disable them so that they interfere with TR's Firemoth.

3) I absolutely don't recommend downgrading to an earlier update, no. If you want to keep playing both versions at the same time, you should instead set up a separate OpenMW install with separate config files. This is somewhat complicated to do, but there are guides online.

4) Yes, this sadly won't change.

Unfortunately, these probably aren't the answers you were looking for, but updating your game in progress isn't really a trivial matter since Morrowind was never designed for this.

wow, thanks for this comprehensive reply

okay, i decided to leave it as it is for the moment and try updating it when i played enough whit my chars. but im definitely updating at some point and try it out. i hope i remind myself of this all at the right time.  and no downgrading, roger

i don't mind starting new characters, that's my favorite part anyway. and i'm totally fine with this answer, glad i got such a good one. really appreciate that.

thanks for all and happy new year m8
